Review of Dragon Born's Key Features

Slay the dragon, win the jackpot, save the world!

From The Hobbit to Skyrim, fantasy adventure stories are always popular and that’s the order of the day in the subject of our Dragon Born online slot review; this interesting 6-reel slot by Big Time Gaming.

There’s not much of a story element to the game, which is surprising given that a video intro or bonus feature relating to the Dragon Mistress and her fire breathing beasts attacking the kingdom could be quite compelling.

The game’s unique layout offers as many as 117,649 ways to win, although you won’t encounter these on every single spin, but despite a good RTP of 95% it still feels a little volatile because the bonus round often requires a lot of chasing.

Not exactly Skyrim, but a beautiful game for sure

Because a Dragon Born slot machine has so many reels and rows, it’s certainly not short on symbols – dragons, jewels, house sigils, the Dragon Mistress Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10 and 9 all appear across the reels, and they really do look great.

10 and 9 are also adorned with a shield and chalice when expanded across multiple rows, rather than just being numbers, which is a nice little visual touch. Only the diamond scatter is animated, but the game still manages to feel quite lively despite that.

Diamonds are a Dragon Born’s best friend

Despite a very fair RTP of 95%, this game has a reputation for being a bit of a greedy dragon when it comes to bonus rounds. By that we mean that you can often expect to play for a long time before the game deigns to grant you any free spins, with some players reporting hundreds of spins before triggering a bonus feature.

While this certainly won’t always be the case, it’s worth bearing in mind if you’re the type of player who expects to be able to trigger a bonus round every 50-100 spins. Once you do get there, there’s undoubtedly some big win potential with every diamond triggering an extra free spin to add to your 6, 12, 25 or 50 initial free games (triggered by 3, 4, 5 or 6 diamonds respectively).

Jokers that know how to get wild, wild, wild!

On its own, the Dragon Born jackpot isn’t all impressive – 50x for lining up 6 dragons – but things start to get really crazy when you factor in the game’s multiplying wilds. With full reel wilds that multiply up to 7x, and can combine for a maximum of 50x, you can see how quickly big prizes might stack up.

In fact, as nice as it is to see dragons appearing across the board, you may well find yourself rooting even harder for wilds to appear and bump up your win. Without them, you might think the wins you experience while playing a Dragon Born online slot are just a little underwhelming.

A fun slot for time away from the castle

If you can find a responsive site or mobile app offering the Dragon Born casino game for use on smartphones and tablets, it could well be something you’ll want to try.

In our experience, however, the additional reels and rows offered by the game simply make things too cluttered on a smaller screen size. What works great, and adds plenty of value, on desktops and laptops can end up being very difficult to see when you shrink a game down.

Always fancied yourself as a Knight of the Round Table? You’ll love this!

If you’re into your fantasy books, movies etc. like King Arthur, Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings then you’ll have a great time playing Dragon Born. While the game could possibly benefit from some additional bonus features, or perhaps a progressive jackpot, it’s already a very strong title.

You’ll also enjoy putting some Dragon Born tips to the test if you’re looking from something that breaks out of the traditional 5x3 video slot mold, with its 6 reels and mismatched rows. And despite all this, it retains a high RTP % and has a great jackpot.

Our only major complaint in this Dragon Born slot review is that the bonus round feels quite rare, which you’ll soon experience if you give the game a try in free play.
