Vallejo, Calif. police officers initially tried to pull over the unnamed motorist on Saturday night after he allegedly drove recklessly on a local street.

Drove in Wrong Lane, Through Red Lights

But instead of stopping his white Chevrolet Tahoe, the suspect sped away and drove into oncoming traffic, police said. He also allegedly drove past red lights and stop signs, police added.

Vallejo officers continued to chase the Tahoe. Officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) also began to chase the suspect’s vehicle.

He drove onto I-80 and headed southbound before exiting the freeway. He continued as police officers chased after the SUV.

A CHP helicopter hovered overhead for some of the pursuit.

Eventually, the suspect drove into the San Pablo Lytton Casino parking lot about 14 miles from where the pursuit began.

He fled from the vehicle and ran inside of the tribal gaming property.

A woman, dressed in a pink jacket, who was in the Tahoe, switched from a passenger seat to the driver’s seat. She later claimed she was driving the Tahoe as officers chased the vehicle, police revealed.

But the helicopter crew had watched her swap seats, authorities said.

The man, dressed in a red hoodie, who had been driving the SUV, was found in the casino by CHP officers.

He was apprehended and arrested on several felonies. He was identified as being a felon with multiple drug-related convictions and a no-bail warrant, according to California TV station KRON. His driver’s license was revoked too, police said.

Meth Found

During a search of the suspect, police also found 23 grams of suspected methamphetamine (meth). Police said it was in packages for sale.

The suspect was on parole, according to SFist, a regional news outlet.

He’s likely to have been booked on the various charges, though police didn’t reveal the counts or his identity over the weekend.

No word if the female passenger was arrested for allegedly making a false statement to police.

No one was believed to have been injured during the pursuit. Police didn’t reveal how fast officers were driving to keep up with the motorist.

The San Pablo Lytton Casino is owned and operated by the Lytton Band of Pomo Indians.

The casino is located in San Pablo, some 20 miles north of San Francisco.
