Approximately 200 protestors gathered near the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas on Wednesday evening to oppose President Donald Trump’s new immigration orders.

Protestors marched to the Trump International Hotel during their three-hour rally. There were many critical words against the president but participants remained peaceful, according to local news reports.

Obscenities Hurled Against Trump

Protestors chanted such phrases as “Viva Mexico” and “Viva La Raza.” Many carried signs saying such things as “Education Over Deportation.” Witnesses claimed protestors also yelled out profanities against Trump and his new immigration policies.

One protestor, identified as Shannon Large, was quoted by Las Vegas TV station KLAS, “We should be upset. We should be angry, and not enough people are.”

Another protestor had similar views.

I know a lot of people who have undocumented families,” Albert Lucero was quoted by KLAS. “And they are worried they are going to be taken away from their children.”

“We are going to stand up,” Lucero added. “And we will fight him until we win.”

Nationwide, protests were carried out after Trump signed executive orders just hours after being sworn in as president. The president’s executive orders call for immediate, tougher security on US borders and deportation of millions who are in the US illegally.

Trump’s ending of birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants was blocked by a federal judge.

When speaking at his inauguration, Trump called those he wants deported “criminal aliens.”

Many individuals in Nevada support having undocumented immigrants in the US.

Clark County Commission Chairman Tick Segerblom recently held a Know Your Rights session for those in the US without documents. Representatives of the ACLU Nevada, the Latino Legislative Caucus, UNLV’s Immigration Clinic, and the consulates of Mexico and El Salvador took part, according to the Nevada Current.

Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill recently said his officers won’t participate in roundups of undocumented immigrants by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.

“Roundups out in the community and those kinds of things, that’s not my job. I have too much to do,” McMahill told KLAS last week.

Trump Welcomed to Vegas

Despite his critics in Las Vegas, Trump remains popular to many people who appear to support his policies.

Last week, Trump visited Las Vegas and stayed at his Trump International Hotel. On Saturday, he appeared at the Circa where he spoke to more than 1,000 enthusiastic supporters and thanked Nevada residents for their votes in the recent presidential election.

“We’re going to get it for you — no tax on tips,” Trump said at the Circa appearance. “If you’re a restaurant worker, a server, a valet, a bellhop, a bartender, one of my caddies … I go through caddies like candy. Your tips will be 100% yours.”

Trump also visited the casino floor at the Circa and spoke with gamblers.
