Adele Breaks Down When She Spots Celine Dion in Her Audience

Though it’s not known whether Adele realized that Celine Dion would attend her residency at Caesars Palace on Saturday night, she seemed positively gobsmacked when a security guard pointed out someone she had failed to greet during her nightly wade through the crowd.

It was the first time the reigning queen of Las Vegas was visited in concert by its former queen — a moment made all the more poignant because it occurred in the very theater built for Dion to debut her “A New Day” residency in 2003.

Adele was so flustered, she stopped singing “When We Were Young” entirely, leaving her band to render the hit song instrumentally while the two legends embraced. As Dion held Adele’s face, tears flowed and Kleenex appeared.

“Thank you for coming to my show, I love you,” Adele said before returning to the stage, where she gave her special guest a proper introduction and the crowd exploded.

The following video, posted to YouTube by the account Max Lledo, provides the best angle:

“Weekends with Adele” is in its home stretch, wrapping on November 23, with Adele reportedly turning down a $100 million offer to extend it.

There will be further tearjerking moments, you can bet on that, but it’s hard to imagine any beating this one.

As you know, Dion, 56, has been dealing with Stiff Person’s Syndrome since her last Las Vegas residency, 2011-2019’s “Celine,” though she didn’t realize it back then. The rare neurological disease causes painful spasms and seizures for lengthy periods, as was shown in June’s Amazon Prime documentary “I am: Celine Dion.”

While there is no cure, Dion is reportedly fighting back hard enough to attempt the Las Vegas residency she initially promised Resorts World in 2021.

Back in July — right after Dion proved, at the Olympics, that she can still power through one song with no problem — TMZ reported that negotiations were in “the final stages” between her reps and AEG Live for a truncated residency beginning at the Resorts World Theatre either late this year or early 2025.

Obviously, this year is now out.
