The bolt-on deal is par for the course with Illinois-based Accel. The company distributes video gaming terminals (VGTs) in a variety of businesses, including bars, convenience stores, gas stations, restaurants and truck stops. With the purchases of the truck stop casino, Accel adds another 50 video poker terminals in Louisiana, but it plans to scale that number higher.

Pursuant to the terms of the agreement, Toucan acquired the Rice Palace facility, adding 50 Video Gaming Devices (VGDs) to its expanding Louisiana route operations. Toucan and Accel plan to scale the location’s capacity to 60 VGDs in the near term, representing an approximate 8% increase in its VGD count compared to the 728 Louisiana route VGDs Accel reported as of March 31, 2026,” according to a statement issued by the buyer.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but Accel described the acquisition as “accretive.”

Truck Stop Casino Deal in Accel’s Wheelhouse

By some estimates, Illinois accounts for as much as 75% of Accel’s revenue, but the distributed gaming outfit is taking steps to diversify its geographic footprint, confirming the Rice Palace Truck Stop acquisition is sensible.

Outside its home state, Accel has distributed route operations in Georgia, Louisiana, Montana, Nebraska and Nevada with recent deal-making suggesting the company is looking to increase its presence in Northern Nevada. As one of the largest gaming markets in the South, Louisiana is a compelling market in its own right.

“Toucan and Accel will leverage their operational expertise, game and entertainment offerings, data analytics, and promotional systems to further customer entertainment and engagement, improve operational efficiencies, and drive growth over time,” added the buyer in the statement.

Regarding the potential allure of Accel’s purchase of the Rice Palace Truck Stop Casino, some estimates indicate approximately 60,000 vehicles pass by the property each day. The casino and convenience store are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“The transaction is consistent with Accel’s long-term focus on disciplined growth and continued strategic, accretive investments in the state,” notes Accel.

Accel Accelerating Growth

Accel Entertainment has a market capitalization of $976.7 million and just six sell-side analysts cover the company — data points that indicate this may be a hidden gem among gaming equities. Some analysts say the stock often sports deep discounts to future estimates.

Through prudent deal-making, Accel has assembled a portfolio of 28,000-plus gaming devices across the country, ranking it fourth by that metric and  ahead of a slew of traditional casino operators.
