Most Las Vegas gamblers dream of beating the house. The Rio in Las Vegas is now offering a chance to win one.

The off-Strip resort on Thursday unveiled its “Giving Away the House” promotion, a $500,000 giveaway centered on a newly built Lennar home in the Las Vegas Valley valued at approximately $400,000.

The giveaway begins Nov. 1 and includes eight preliminary drawings before the finale. At each preliminary drawing, five winners will receive $1,000 in free play. Those drawings are scheduled between Nov. 14 and Feb. 20 and will be held at 6 p.m. inside Lapa Lounge.

The grand-prize event, set for 6 p.m. March 6 at the Rio Event Stage, will award either the home or a $150,000 free-play alternative. Four additional finalists will receive free-play prizes of $10,000, $5,000, $2,500 and $1,000.

Rio President Rod Turlan described the giveaway as a first-of-its-kind opportunity for the property and one that could have a life-changing impact on the winner.

“This is more than a giveaway. It’s a chance to transform someone’s future,” he said in an announcement.

House Rules

According to promotional rules, participants must be at least 21 years old, possess a Rio Rewards account and present valid identification. Rio Rewards members receive an initial entry, but players also must activate their entries at a promotional kiosk on drawing days between 3 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. to qualify for that evening’s drawing.

The casino is partnering with homebuilder Lennar on the promotion, which Rio says is the largest giveaway in the property’s history.

While casino drawings routinely feature cars, cash and free play, giving away an actual home is exceedingly rare. While Casino.org could not find an earlier precedent in Las Vegas, in March 2026, Golden Entertainment’s Aquarius and Edgewater casinos in Laughlin ran a “$300,000 House & $60,000 Cash Giveaway.” Its grand prize was a new 1,619-square-foot home in Bullhead City, Arizona, or $210,000 in cash.

Steven M. of Bullhead City was chosen as the grand prize winner. He opted for the cash.
