  • Centerfolds, the Las Vegas strip club, closed on Tuesday and will reopen as a different strip club three days later
  • Player’s Strip Club & Sports Bar will feature a TV wall of sports action
  • Most people don’t enter strip clubs to watch sports action

On Tuesday, Las Vegas lost the Centerfolds gentlemen’s club, a hub of titillation across the street from (ironically) the Virgin casino for 10 years — actually, since the Virgin was known as the first Hard Rock Las Vegas. Before that, if you’re still following, the skin saloon went by another name, Club Paradise, since opening at 4416 Paradise Road in 1993.

On Friday, April 11, the venue will reopen again as another shimmy shack called Player’s Strip Club & Sports Bar, with an official grand opening on May 2.

As Las Vegas continues to evolve as a major sports hub, the need for a venue that merges adult entertainment with live sporting action has never been greater,” the new owners explained in a press release.

“This is more than just a strip club — it’s a destination where sports enthusiasts and adult entertainment fans can unite for a one-of-a-kind experience,” Players Strip Club Regional Manager Shaun McDivitt said in the release.

It remains to be seen whether sports can work, since it’s not why most gentlemen frequent gentlemen’s clubs. But Player’s will do its damnedest with 10 85-inch  LED monitors situated on a 20-foot-long TV wall.

Centerfolds tried mounting (pun intended) its own alternative entertainment. It included “A Touch of Burlesque,” “Murray’s Misfits” featuring magician Murray Sawchuck, and “Exxcite” featuring former “Sexxy: The Show” star Jennifer Romas.” But none ran for long.

Centerfolds distributed its own press release upon closing, a rarity in the hospitality business.

We are grateful for the amazing staff, performers and loyal patrons who have made this journey so special,” said Assistant GM Lianne Heck. “While it’s bittersweet, we are proud of the legacy we’ve created and the memories we’ve shared.”

It’s not as bittersweet as it could have been for Heck, who will return as the director of operations and business development for Player’s.
