The Who will end their career-closing tour of North America, “The Song is Over,” at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sept. 28. By then, guitarist and composer Pete Townshend will be 80 and singer Roger Daltrey 81.

“All good things must come to an end,” Townshend said during a British press conference announcing the 16-date tour Thursday. “This tour will be about fond memories, love and laughter. “

In that vein, the legendary band’s drum stool will still be manned by Ringo Starr’s son, Zak Starkey, who was not fired by Daltrey live on stage at London’s Royal Albert Hall last month for playing too loud, despite reports to the contrary.

Tickets for all tour dates go on sale to the public through Ticketmaster at 10 a.m. local time Friday, May 16. Presales for The Who Fan Club and Citi begin 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 13. (For deets, visit www.thewho.com or www.citientertainment.com.)

Won’t Stay in His MacFarlane

The creator of TV’s “Family Guy” will perform songs in style of Frank Sinatra during three dates in July at Voltaire at The Venetian.

Yes, Seth MacFarlane sings. He’s already headlined The Smith Center for the Performing Arts for the past two New Year’s Eves and his ninth studio album (ninth!),“Lush Life: The Lost Sinatra Arrangements,” drops June 6. (It’s not clear if the tracks will be originals written by MacFarlane, co-composer of his own “Family Guy Theme,” or if they will be reimagined/rearranged Sinatra standards, or both.)

Tickets go on sale to the public 10 a.m. PT Monday May 12 through Ticketmaster.

Crossing Residencies

While performing his “The Best of Both Worlds Stays in Vegas” residency on Wednesday at Dolby Live at Park MGM, Sammy Hagar was joined on stage by the frontman for another popular band performing a Vegas residency.

That’s something you don’t see too often on the Strip. But Bob Weir‘s gig with Dead & Company doesn’t restart again until Friday. He came to town early to join his longtime friend (and neighbor in Mill Valley, Calif.) on “Bad Motor Scooter,” a track from Hagar’s pre-Van Halen band, Montrose.

Both Hagar and Dead & Company wrap their residencies on Saturday, May 17.
