Super Bowl Could Return to Vegas in 2029 — Report

In a move that legitimizes Las Vegas as not only a sports city but a dominant one, the NFL wants the Super Bowl to return to the region. And Las Vegas isn’t turning them down.

According to Sports Business Journal, “the word from at least four well-informed sources is that the NFL is now leaning toward a return trip to Allegiant Stadium.”

Several weeks ago, the NFL reached out to Clark County and the Raiders, asking whether they would be interested in a repeat of Super Bowl 58, the region’s first big game, held in 2024. Their response was an enthusiastic letter of intent to host football’s big game in 2029, 2030 or 2031.

“We are very interested in any and all of those years,” Steve Hill, CEO and president of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), told Sporrtskeeda.com.

According to the LVCVA, Super Bowl LVIII generated an economic impact to Clark County of $1 billion, courtesy of 260K Las Vegas visitors who came just to watch the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22.

NFL Playing it Cagey

The next three Super Bowls are already booked for Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. (2026), Sofi Stadium in LA (2027) and Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta (2028).

At the moment, NFL remains cagey about Vegas’ lock on Super Bowl LXIII 2029.

“Las Vegas demonstrated its ability to host a fantastic event for our fans, clubs, partners and media,” the Las Vegas Review-Journal quoted an unnamed league spokesperson as saying on Monday, but “there is tremendous interest from a variety of potential cities to host upcoming Super Bowls.”

According to Sports Business Journal, however, Allegiant and SoFi now “sit alone on Tier 1 for Super Bowl hosting rights,” meaning that they are the new host stadiums to beat.

A return trip would make Las Vegas would the 12th metropolitan area to host multiple Super Bowls, joining LA, Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, Miami, Minneapolis, New Orleans, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco and Tampa, Fla.

A formal selection likely won’t be announced before December, October the earliest.
