R&B singer/reality star Ray J is being medically evaluated in a Las Vegas hospital after being knocked out during a an influencer-driven amateur/exhibition MMA bout over the weekend, an incident that has reignited concerns about his long‑running health struggles.

The 45‑year‑old entertainer was dropped by a clean left hook/right-hand combo from comic Supa Hot Fire early in Round 2 at the UFC Apex on Saturday, May 23. Clips of the knockout, like the one below, spread rapidly across social media, initially treated as another entertaining viral moment in the crossover‑combat world.
According to TMZ, however, the situation escalated two hours later when Ray J checked himself into a Las Vegas hospital, experiencing symptoms consistent with a concussion and irregularities in his heart rate.
As of Tuesday, May 26, TMZ reported that Ray J remains hospitalized while doctors conduct neurological testing and cardiac monitoring. No official diagnosis has been released, and Ray J has not made a public statement.
Health to Pay
Ray J. — born William Ray Norwood Jr. — is known for his early-2000s hits “Let It Go” and “Wait a Minute,” in addition to starring in the VH1 reality series For the Love of Ray J and co-starring in Kim Kardashian’s 2007 sex tape.
More recently, he’s been known for publicly battling major health problems. In January 2026, Ray J was admitted to a hospital with severe pneumonia and chest pain. At the time, TMZ reported that doctors performed X‑rays and an echocardiogram while evaluating potential heart complications.
Weeks later, Ray J told fans in an emotional Instagram video that his heart had been “only beating like 25 percent.” People later confirmed he had been prescribed multiple medications and warned about the possibility of needing a pacemaker or defibrillator.
Ray J has also publicly acknowledged that years of heavy drinking and stimulant use contributed to his health decline. In a livestream earlier this year, he admitted he had underestimated the long‑term effects of alcohol and Adderall, saying, “I thought I could handle it… but I couldn’t.”
The latest incident has prompted renewed concern from fans and industry peers, many of whom have questioned why Ray J agreed to participate in a combat‑sports event given his recent medical history.
