- A prediction market conference host claims a Las Vegas casino hotel canceled the event due to pressure from state regulators
- The NGCB says that’s not true
- The conference has been moved to New York City
A prediction market conference originally slated to be held at the ARIA Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip recently created a mini-firestorm on social media with the event’s organizers claiming ARIA canceled the event amid pressure from state regulators, but those regulators said that’s not true.

“Predict 2026,” organized by Volti Co. and Predict Summit LLC, notes on its website that the Dec. 7-9 event has been moved to New York City.
After our Las Vegas venue contract was terminated due to prediction-market-related regulatory pressure from the Nevada Gaming Control Board, we have decided to bring the conference home to NYC. The need for collaboration to further prediction markets as a societal good has never been stronger,” according to the site.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) says that’s inaccurate. A request for comment to the conference’s organizers was not responded to prior to publication of this articile.
NGCB’s Side of the Story
In swift response to an inquiry from Casino.org, the NGCB said it had no part in Predict 2026 leaving ARIA.
“The Nevada Gaming Control Board did not direct, request, or otherwise pressure any licensee or venue to cancel or decline to host any recent or upcoming event or conference, as has been suggested,” according to a statement provided to Casino.org by the regulator.
In an effort to protect Nevada’s gaming industry — the lifeblood of the state’s economy — the NGCB has taken a hardline against prediction markets, but stops short of telling licensees which conferences they can and cannot host.
“Gaming licensees are expected to adhere to all federal, state, and local statutes and ordinances and prevent any occurrences that may bring discredit to the state or the gaming industry,” according to the regulator’s statement. “Licensees are encouraged to do their own due diligence to ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.”
Las Vegas Has Hosted Prediction Market Conferences
There’s no denying people love some good social media conjecture and folks in the gaming and prediction market industries aren’t exceptions. However, it appears unlikely the NGCB would force prediction market conferences out of Las Vegas for a simple reason: the city has already hosted such events.
The “Prediction Conference” was held at MEET Las Vegas, a downtown meeting venue, in April and is returning for another event in November.
Granted MEET Las Vegas isn’t a casino hotel, but it lists several well-known downtown gaming venues on its website as accommodation considerations for conference attendees.
