First Bar to Show Only Women’s Sports is Headed to Vegas

  • A Portland, Ore. sports bar that shows only female sports is coming to Vegas
  • No opening date or location has been announced, but the franchise owner may be a poker champ

Fans of the Las Vegas Aces will soon have their very own bar to cheer on the two-time WNBA champs in Las Vegas.

The Sports Bra opened its inaugural location in 2022, changing the channel on the traditional sports bar experience by only showing women’s sports.

Now, founder Jenny Nguyen believe its success in Portand, Ore. is sufficient proof of concept to open branches of the Sports Bra in Sin City, Boston, Indianapolis and St. Louis.  She has partnered with Alexis Ohanian’s 776 Foundation to take her brand national.

“Together, we’re serving fans nationwide who are hungry for spaces that not only champion women’s sports, but create a community where everyone feels like they belong,” Nguyen said in a press release. “There is no better moment than this to open these places.”

According to a recent report from Barbarian and The GIST, the revenue generated by women’s sports was projected to reach $2.35 billion in 2024. That’s a 300% increase over 2022. In addition, media coverage of women’s sports has increased 275% over the past five years.

The location for the Sports Bra in Las Vegas has not been announced, nor has its expected opening date.  However, Time Out Las Vegas identified the franchise owner as one Esther Taylor.

Esther Taylor is a Las Vegas-based poker pro with over $2.3 million in career ownings. (She finished third in the 2017 World Series of Poker Main Event and had eight Top 10 finishes.) Though Time Out did not identify the franchise-owning Esther Taylor as the poker champ, we’re going all in on that bet.
