FanDuel announced Monday its forthcoming integration of in-tournament betting lines and challenges such as longest drive, closest to the pin, and other shot-by-shot wagering opportunities.

In a partnership with IMG Arena, a sports betting data supplier that acquired the exclusive rights to the PGA Tour’s official data and video content stream in 2019, FanDuel Sportsbook customers will see an expanded golf betting menu beginning with this week’s St. Jude Championship. In the first leg of the 2023 FedExCup Playoffs, TPC Southwind this week plays host to the top 70, season-long points earners.

FanDuel was designated as an “Official Betting Operator” of the PGA Tour in August 2020. The recognition allows the sportsbook operator to use the PGA Tour’s logos and advertise within the Tour’s broadcasts and streaming platforms.

As an Official Betting Operator of the PGA Tour, we’re continually looking for innovative ways to elevate the golf betting experience on our platform for fans during their favorite tournaments,” said Christian Genetski, president of the FanDuel Group. “By integrating IMG Arena’s Golf Event Centre into our sportsbook platform, we can offer fans access to a robust catalog of live markets that will give them new ways to engage with the sport on every hole.”

The IMG Arena Golf Event Centre supplies live, real-time golf data from the PGA Tour to partner sportsbooks. FanDuel’s online sportsbook, one such IMG Arena partner, is operational in 19 states, including Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Live Betting Expansion

The days of golf betting being limited to pretournament and preround wagering are long in the past. Legal sportsbooks in the US are already taking a myriad of varying bets.

For this week’s St. Jude event, sportsbooks are offering not only outright winners and top-10 finish markets, but also lines on which golfer will lead after Thursday’s opening round. Oddsmakers additionally offer an array of head-to-head matchups like whether Jon Rahm or Rory McIlroy will finish higher.

FanDuel’s IMG Arena partnership takes things even further with live, in-round betting. Beginning Thursday on the sportsbook’s online app, golf bettors will be able to bet on which golfer hits it closest to the pin on a par 3, and which golfer will hit the longest drive on a designated hole.

“Integrating the Golf Event Centre into FanDuel Sportsbook will be a massive win for golf fans, who will now have a robust offering of betting options to choose from as they tune in to see their favorite players and tournaments,” added Scott Warfield, vice president of gaming at the PGA Tour. “The Golf Event Centre promises to be an exciting addition to the FanDuel platform, and we appreciate the contributions they have made to help us grow engagement in the game of golf.”

Bunker Bonus Bets

FanDuel will have a presence at TPC Southwind this week, as the sportsbook is sponsoring the FedExCup Playoffs. The sportsbook will offer on-site fans a shot at holing a bunker shot for a chance to win $5,000 in “Bonus Bets.”

FanDuel will also provide its online bettors wagering on the FedEx St. Jude Championship with a 25% profit boost for wagers on in-round markets during the tournament.
