  • Spiegelworld’s adults-only variety show, The Hook, will permanently close at Caesars Atlantic City on Sept. 6, 2026, after a three-year run of more than 1,000 performances
  • The high-overhead residency, for which a 1929 theater was renovated for $40 million, struggled with Atlantic City’s winter seasonality
  • The closure marks another retraction for Spiegelworld, following the recent shutdowns of OPM and DiscoShow in Las Vegas, as well as delays for its planned New Orleans venue

After three years on the Boardwalk and more than 1,000 performances, The Hook will take its final bow at Caesars Atlantic City on Sept. 6, 2026. When it opened in June 2023, the adults‑only variety show — created by Las Vegas Cirque du Soleil competitor Spiegelworld — was billed as a cornerstone of Caesars’ $430 million redevelopment plan for the once-blighted casino destination.

According to the Las Vegas Review -Journal, cast members were notified of the closure after Sunday night’s show in an internal email from Spiegelworld founder Ross Mollison.

Caesars spent roughly $40 million renovating the Warner Theatre, a 1929 landmark, into a hybrid cabaret‑and‑variety playground reminiscent of Spiegelworld’s long-running Las Vegas shows Absinthe at Caesars Palace and Atomic Saloon Show at the Venetian.

“Creating an original, resident show at Caesars Atlantic City was an ambitious undertaking,” Mollison’s email read. “The show has constantly evolved over the years, showcasing so many incredible artists. It is a significant achievement that we will have played for an unprecedented four seasons on the Boardwalk.”

Spiegelworld marketed The Hook as a permanent Boardwalk residency — a high‑energy blend of comedy, acrobatics, and chaotic variety acts designed to bring a Vegas‑style theatrical experience to the East Coast. Performances ran year‑round, with a schedule that included mid‑week shows and double performances on weekends.

That Sinking Feeling

But the show underwhelmed at the box office.  Maintaining a large, high‑overhead residency outside the Las Vegas market proved difficult — especially when facing the same challenge that has confronted all Atlantic City entertainment since the Boardwalk opened its first casino in 1978: seasonality.

Tourism drops sharply in the winter months.

Spiegelworld has already scaled back elsewhere, closing OPM at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in December 2023 and DiscoShow at the LINQ in January 2026 after multimillion‑dollar rollouts.

And a new resident show and theater — originally planned to open in 2024 as part of a renovation of Caesars New Orleans — has been significantly delayed.

Caesars has not announced what will fill the high‑profile vacancy at the Warner Theatre, and there is no public timeline for future programming. Ticket‑holders for performances scheduled after Sept. 6 are being directed to contact the Caesars box office or their original point of purchase for refund or exchange information.
