VEGAS DINING NEWS: Eatwell Farewell May Signal Giada Sayonara, Toughest Vegas Reservations

Eatwell at the Cromwell has closed, which isn’t earth-shattering news since it was only a 24-hour quick-service food stall that opened in 2017. However, this leaves Giada by chef Giada De Laurentiis as the sole remaining dining option at the Caesars Entertainment property, which is scheduled to re-debut as the Lisa Vanderpump Hotel early next year.

The closure is significant because it strongly suggests that furnishings and decor aren’t all that Vanderpump is ruling over at the Cromwell, which remains open during the rebrand. (Caesars’ press announcement last March mentioned only that the renovation would impact the property’s reception and front desk areas, all of its 188 rooms, and that an “all new lounge” would be added.)

Vanderpump has already developed three Las Vegas eateries in partnership with Caesars: the Vanderpump Cocktail Garden at Caesars Palace, Vanderpump à Paris at Paris Las Vegas, and Pinky’s by Vanderpump at Flamingo Las Vegas.

Even before Eatwell’s farewell, it seemed likely that the reality star/restaurateur would have some definitive ideas about the culinary offerings at the hotel bearing her name. And, as Vital Vegas put it so inimitably, “divas are natural enemies in the wild, all due respect.”

When Casino.org posed the question to a Caesars spokesperson in March, the reply was: “No other changes are planned at this time.”

However, that was then and this is now, and so far, the same spokesperson has not responded to a new inquiry about the Italian restaurant’s fate.

10 Hardest Restaurant Reservations

TastingTable.com recently ranked the 10 hardest restaurant reservations to land in Las Vegas, and only the Wynn/Encore and Caesars Palace received multiple mentions.

  1. é by José Andrés at the Cosmopolitan
  2. Carbone at Aria
  3. Kaiseki Sanga at 3650 S. Decatur Blvd.
  4. Kabuto at 5040 W. Spring Mountain Road
  5. Wing Lei at the Wynn
  6. Nobu at Caesars Palace
  7. Sinatra at Encore
  8. Lotus of Siam at 620 E. Flamingo Road
  9. SW Steakhouse at the Wynn
  10. Vanderpump Cocktail Garden at Caesars Palace

The website neglected to mention how it determined its rankings, so it’s probably just another culinary popularity contest. However, it wasn’t cooking up a lie when it advised: “If you’re planning a trip to Vegas in the near future, it’s still a good idea to book your meals in advance to avoid disappointment — especially if you’re planning to snag a table in any of the coveted eateries below at peak dining times (think between 7 pm and 9 pm on a Friday or Saturday night).”

Airport Grounds Food Worker Strike

Culinary Workers Union Local 226 has reached an agreement likely to end the threat of a strike by food and beverage workers employed by at least nine restaurants at Harry Reid International Airport.

The union announced a tentative deal with HMSHost, which manages the Chili’s, California Pizza Kitchen, Ruby’s Diner, PGA Golf Restaurant, Las Vegas Chophouse & Brewery, Starbucks, Burger King, Carl’s Jr., and Dunkin’ Donuts at the nation’s eighth busiest airport.

A contract is still being negotiated for the 400 fast-food workers employed by the airport’s Wendy’s, Nathan’s Hot Dogs, Aunt Annie’s, Village Pub, Jimmy John’s, Jersey Mike’s and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

Please bring Giada to Durango's, Green Valley Ranch, Red Rock Resort and watch Brunch become a pleasant experience.
