Meta’s mega-billionaire Mark Zuckerberg ventured from Silicon Valley to Sin City last weekend where he took in UFC 313 at T-Mobile Arena, met up with some of his favorite MMA fighters, and played poker in a private room at Wynn Las Vegas.

Worth an estimated $207 billion by Forbes, making him the world’s third-richest person, Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, partied in Las Vegas over the weekend.
Great night seeing friends and some of my favorite fighters,” Zuckerberg wrote in an Instagram post with a series of photographic memories. “Can’t wait for the rematch.”
Zuck was referencing the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship headlining bout at UFC 313 where challenger Magomed Ankalaev won a unanimous decision against Alex Pereira. The match was a slight upset, as Pereira was a slim favorite at -115 to Ankalaev at -105.
After the fight, Zuckerberg played poker in a private room at Wynn Las Vegas. The clip shows Zuck winning a hand against UFC star Alexander Volkanovski.
UFC Fandom
When he’s not running Meta, among the largest companies on the planet that’s behind Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp, the 40-year-old Zuckerberg spends considerable time in the gym where he trains in mixed martial arts and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He has spoken glowingly about his love for both sports, with MMA being the basis for the UFC.
Zuckerberg’s fascination with combat sports, and rumors that he and fellow billionaire Elon Musk might square off in the Octagon, last year prompted Meta to warn investors about the risk involved.
“Mr. Zuckerberg and certain other members of management participate in various high-risk activities, such as combat sports, extreme sports, and recreational aviation, which carry the risk of serious injury and death. If Mr. Zuckerberg were to become unavailable for any reason, there could be a material adverse impact on our operations,” the company wrote in its 2023 financial report.
Musk and Zuck first teased a fight in 2022 after the tech tycoons squabbled on social media. While it seemed that the two men, who have a combined net worth of $526 billion even after Monday’s stock market meltdown, were genuine in their willingness to settle their differences with gloves, their handlers presumably squashed the idea for the benefit of the tens of millions of investors they serve.
Poker Prophecy
Zuckerberg and his billionaire tech colleagues are at the forefront of developing the future of the world. The Facebook founder believes that in the coming years, the internet will overlap the real world, and the need for us to be glued to screens will become obsolete.
Zuckerberg used poker as an example of what that might look like during a 2022 interview with Joe Rogan.
In the future, our computing platform as it becomes more of like glasses or contact lens form factor, the internet is going to get overlaid on the physical world. It’s not like now where we have the physical world and then I have all my digital stuff on this tiny screen,” Zuckerberg explained.
“In the future, all my attention goes to the physical world. If we wanted to play poker, we could have a hologram deck of cards at the snap of our hands. Our friend who can’t be here physically, he’s here as a hologram. He can play with the digital deck of cards,” Zuck said.
