The Cosmopolitan on the Las Vegas Strip and Allegiant Stadium were among the Las Vegas locations which suffered from a power outage on Monday, according to news reports.

Two outages also were seen at Harry Reid International Airport. The airport’s Terminal 3 lost power at about 3:23 p.m. on Monday.
It was restored after 5 p.m. A generator provided limited temporary power at the airport, but several public spaces remained in the dark.
A second airport outage reportedly took place later in the day.
A local utility company, NV Energy, sent its emergency crews to the airport. After repairs were made, power slowly began again, according to Las Vegas TV station KVVU.
Tram Impacted, Flights Delayed
The tram serving the airport’s Terminal 3 was interrupted in service. Passengers were given rides on buses, Las Vegas TV station KTNV reported.
In addition, all of the C gates in the airport’s Terminal 1 also lost power.
The airport revealed that select flights saw minor delays after doors leading to boarding areas also lost power, KVVU reported. Doors lock automatically when the power goes out in such a fashion at the airport.
By about 8 p.m., the airport’s electricity returned to normal, officials said.
Late on Monday, NV Energy told KVVU an attempted theft of copper wire at an unspecified substation led to a total of 12 customers losing electricity, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. NV Energy didn’t specify the customers which lost electricity.
No one was arrested for the vandalism as of Monday night, the report added.
This wasn’t the first time wire thefts and related vandalism led to utility outages.
Substations See Vandalism
“NV Energy facilities — particularly substations — are often a target for copper theft, although we also see this type of theft on power poles,” the utility said in a statement to Las Vegas TV station KSNV.
“Copper thefts are growing more sophisticated, with thieves finding workarounds to avoid being shocked or more seriously injured during theft.”
In 2024, NV Energy said it “doubled down on efforts to ensure all suspected copper thefts are reported to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Our teams also take precautions and work to ensure our facilities are secure and are not easily accessible by potential thieves.”
Following the outage at the Cosmopolitan Hotel, guests were given a $25 gift card, KSNV reported.
