BetMGM Opens Las Vegas Strip’s First Poolside Sportsbook

This weekend, BetMGM opened a retail sportsbook at Tailgate Beach Club, the sports-centric pool dayclub at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Eligible guests can now bet at an outdoor window inside a converted cabana without leaving the pool deck.

Tailgate opened in May on the former Daylight Beach Club site, steps from Allegiant Stadium on the south Strip. It is built around three heated pools, 22 cabanas, lounge seating, food and drink, and more than 145 feet of LED displays that can show live odds and game feeds to as many as 2,000 guests.

Guests 21 and over can wager at the new window. They can also sign up for the BetMGM app on site—though later mobile use depends on state rules and the customer’s location. The BetMGM app is currently live in 23 states plus Washington DC and Puerto Rico.

The window expands BetMGM’s MGM Resorts retail footprint to 10 sportsbooks on the Strip, including the indoor book already operating inside Mandalay Bay.

“Tailgate Beach Club has quickly become one of the most exciting places in Las Vegas to watch live sports, and the addition of the BetMGM Sportsbook gives fans another way to get in on the action,” said Matt Prevost, chief revenue officer at BetMGM, in a press release. “As more people travel to Las Vegas for marquee sporting events, we’re focused on creating unique experiences that bring together sports, entertainment and betting.”

Not the First in Vegas

Though this is BetMGM’s first poolside sportsbook and the first staffed outdoor sportsbook window on the Strip, it is not the first poolside sportsbook in Las Vegas. That distinction belongs to Stadium Swim at Circa Resort & Casino downtown, where Circa Sports kiosks have operated under the video board since the pool amphitheater opened with the resort on Oct. 28, 2020.

In addition, Stadium Swim takes bets year-round, but BetMGM’s Tailgate betting window is open seasonally along with the beach club—from March Madness through Super Bowl Sunday.

General admission to BetMGM’s Tailgate Beach Club window is free with an RSVP. Cabanas, reserved seats, and group packages are sold separately.
