BetMGM, Marriott Bonvoy Team Up on Loyalty Points Deal

BetMGM and Marriott Bonvoy, the hotelier’s customer loyalty platform, are teaming up on a program that allows the gaming company’s clients to earn travel rewards.

Bettors in the states in which BetMGM is operational can link their accounts with the online sportsbook operator and Marriott Bonvoy. Points can be accrued via sports wagering or with iGaming in the states where that’s applicable.

They can then exchange BetMGM Rewards points for Marriott Bonvoy points, up to 100,000 points annually, which they can then use to redeem extraordinary experiences, including future free nights with Marriott Bonvoy’s more than 30 hotel brands and 10,000 destinations globally,” according to a statement.

In North America, BetMGM is operational in 29 jurisdictions, including several U.S. states, Ontario, Canada, and Puerto Rico. BetMGM is a 50/50 joint venture of MGM Resorts and UK-based gaming giant Entain Plc.

BetMGM, Bonvoy Partnership Unique

BetMGM is already tied to the popular MGM Rewards program, and like other online sportsbooks operated by land-based casino companies, that relationship allows clients to earn points that can be redeemed at MGM’s domestic properties.

The relationship with Marriott Bonvoy amplifies that proposition and is unique in the sports wagering industry.  Most of the major rewards programs in the space aren’t tied to external travel and leisure companies.

News of the BetMGM/Bonvoy deal emerged just weeks after the start of the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy program. That will see all of MGM’s domestic hotels available for booking on Marriott’s website by the end of this year. Under the terms of that agreement, Marriott Bonvoy members don’t earn MGM points and tier credits unless they join MGM Rewards. However, Marriott Bonvoy participants can earn and redeem points at all MGM properties participating in the accord.

MGM Rewards has more than 40 million members, while Marriott Bonvoy has north of 180 million participants, making the two programs among the largest in their respective segments.

BetMGM/Bonvoy Deal Features

To kick off the partnership, BetMGM and Marriott Bonvoy highlighted the “Ultimate L.A. Getaway” promotion, in which a member and three friends will win a three-night trip to Los Angeles. That includes a golf experience with former basketball star Blake Griffin.

The weekend includes roundtrip airfare, a three-night stay at the Santa Monica Proper Hotel, a Member of Design Hotels and Marriott Bonvoy participating hotel, and a packed itinerary with stops at Griffin’s favorite restaurants and box seats to a comedy show,” according to the statement.

Members must link their BetMGM and Marriott Bonvoy accounts between March 18 and April 8 to be eligible for the drawing.
