BetMGM is a 50-50 venture controlled by MGM Resorts International and Entain Group, the latter being an Isle of Man-based sports betting firm that owns leading UK and European sportsbook brands Ladbrokes, Coral, Sportingbet, and bwin.

BetMGM is US-focused, with its online sportsbook licensed in 22 jurisdictions, including Arizona, Colorado, DC, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

The Lions and Chiefs get the NFL going tonight, and BetMGM customers have a new and improved sportsbook platform to place their bets. In a press release, BetMGM reps said its new app comes with “extensive evolutions,” enhanced features such as same-game parlays, and multistate functionality where permitted.

We developed our state-of-the-art sports betting platform to feature a variety of ways sports fans can engage,” said BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt. “The next generation of the BetMGM app is a giant step forward in the sports betting experience, increasing the level of entertainment before, during, and after games.”

A BetMGM spokesperson clarified to Casino.org that the BetMGM sportsbook app will automatically update to the latest version when current customers open the wagering platform.

Major Promotion

A popular season-long NFL bet is a “survivor pool” where bettors each week pick a team to win. BetMGM’s updated app comes with a free-to-play $100,000 survivor pool. Each week, BetMGM players will pick a team to win. If they prevail, the customer remains in the survivor pool. Lose, and you’re out.

Each player can only pick a team once throughout the 18-week regular season. Those remaining at the end of the regular season will split the $100,000 prize.

The updated BetMGM app also provides the technical and regulatory capabilities to allow customers to travel into a new legal sports betting state with their mobile account where allowed. For instance, a BetMGM player in Pennsylvania can travel to Maryland to take in a Baltimore Ravens game and wager legally and seamlessly through their established account.

BetMGM adds that the “Same-Game Parlay+” offering that comes with the new app provides bettors with a way to combine same-game parlays into a “super parlay” featuring “exponentially increased odds.”

BetMGM Market Share

A little more than five years since the US Supreme Court allowed state lawmakers to determine whether they wish to allow sports betting, BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, and Caesars Sportsbook have emerged as the industry’s leaders.

While those platforms continue to expand their operations and technical capabilities, some former competitors, such as WynnBet and Fox Bet, are ceasing their operations or scaling back their businesses. Penn Entertainment also recently sold off Barstool Sports and Barstool Sportsbook to gain sportsbook share through a new pact with ESPN for a brand to be called ESPN Bet.

The NFL kickoff begins the busiest time of the year for oddsmakers, as pro and college football generates more bets in the US than any other sport.

As for tonight, the Chiefs are favored by 4.5 points. The over/under is at 53.5 points, and the moneyline has Kansas City at -225 and Detroit at +180.
