Penn Sets Opening Date for Capacity-Doubling New M Resort Tower in Vegas

Penn Entertainment announced Wednesday a Dec. 1 opening date for a new second tower at M Resort in Henderson, Nev. The 384-room expansion will nearly double the property’s capacity to 765 rooms. And the $206 million project will come with an added bonus — a restaurant from a celebrity chef!

Penn’s latest development includes a partnership with Emeril Lagasse to bring the second location of Meril — the New Orleans eatery Lagasse named after his daughter — to the property, which is located 10 miles south of the Strip.

Emeril Lagasse also operated Table 10 and Lagasse Stadium at the Venetian/Palazzo. They closed in 2017 and 2020, respectively. (Image: emerils restaurants.com)

Lagasse currently operates two other Las Vegas restaurants: Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House (located at the MGM Grand and Delmonico Steakhouse at The Venetian.

Meeting space will also expand, and a new, 15,000 square-foot Montese Ballroom is expected to open on Oct. 1.

“We’re thrilled to be unveiling our newest development in Henderson on the heels of our recent grand opening of the new Hollywood Casino Joliet in Illinois,” said Jay Snowden, Penn CEO and president, in a news release. “This new tower and restaurant from The Emeril Group expands our market-leading amenities at M Resort and provides much needed additional room capacity for group business and the overall strong demand of the Henderson locals market.”

Added Penn executive VP of Operations Todd George: “Coupled with our extensive, expanded array of amenities and our highly successful partnership with the Las Vegas Raiders, M Resort is becoming the premier destination for visitors and convention attendees from across the country.”

The Joliet casino and M Resort addition are the first two of four growth projects previously announced by the Wyomissing, Penn.-based gaming company to open. Rounding out the company’s $850 million in investment are a new hotel adjacent to the Hollywood Casino in Columbus, Ohio — also set to open later this year — and a new, land-based Hollywood Casino set to open in Aurora, Ill. in the first half of 2026.

For the M Resort development, Penn anticipates accessing $150 million in funding in the fourth quarter from Gaming and Leisure Properties, Inc. at a 7.79% capitalization rate.

Will they be doing something about the Entrance to the M Casino which has been barricaded off for months now for no particular reason.… Will they be doing something about the Entrance to the M Casino which has been barricaded off for months now for no particular reason. We also cannot exit to get back out onto Volunteer without driving around the block. Rumor has it that the M Casino does not own that piece of land the entrance is on and can't work out a deal with whoever does own it. Also ...with all the building in that area over the past 5 years we could use a red light at that entrance. Can't tell you how many times I have almost been hit trying to turn left in traffic there. A response would greatly be appreciated.

Great to see an off-the-strip casino improving.
