- Ocean Casino Resort is investing $50 million in property upgrades
- The project will renovate 559 hotel rooms that first opened back in 2012
- A family-friendly mini putt putt course is also planned
Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City is investing $50 million into the property. Along with room renovations, the destination located on the Boardwalk’s northern end is expanding its casino, bringing in new restaurants, and adding a family-friendly attraction.

Ocean is owned and operated by private equity firm Luxor Capital and Ilitch Holdings, the latter being the family-owned conglomerate behind Little Caesars, the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit, and the MLB Detroit Tigers and NHL Detroit Red Wings. Ocean officials broke the news to the Press of Atlantic City that 559 hotel rooms and suites that opened at the resort’s launch as Revel in April 2012 will be fully renovated.
The $50 million project additionally includes an expanded Asian-focused gaming lounge that will house 32 mini baccarat and pai gow tables. Philadelphia-based Michelin-starred chef Stephen Starr will bring two new restaurants to Ocean’s lobby level and the property’s food court will also see enhancements.
Ocean Casino Upgrades
Since Ilitch was welcomed in by Luxor with a $175 million investment in 2021 for a 50% stake in the casino, which cost $2.4 billion to build, the ownership has invested significantly in making Ocean a premier luxury casino hotel in Atlantic City. Its primary competitors are the neighboring Hard Rock and MGM’s Borgata in the Marina District.
One year after Ilitch came aboard, Ocean completed the 12 unfinished hotel floors that had sat vacant since 2012 when the property opened. The Blu Rooms and Suites, as the occupancies on the 12 stories are known, have become guests’ preferred destinations.
Ocean continues to invest in property enhancements that enable us to provide an unmatched guest experience not only in Atlantic City but nationwide,” Bill Callahan, Ocean’s general manager, told the Press of Atlantic City. “This year also marks an exciting milestone as we complete the entire hotel with fully renovated guest rooms and suites.”
Ocean’s 2025 updates include a family-friendly 18-hole mini putt golf course. Called Ocean’s 18 Mini Golf & Bar, the multimillion-dollar entertainment destination will offer fun for visitors of all ages.
The golf venue includes immersive hologram technology used at The Sphere in Las Vegas, including a 12-foot-tall great white shark that will tower over the bar.
Ocean Tide Slowed in 2024
After emerging from bankruptcy with a new owner, Ocean Casino Resort has become one of the most successful properties in Atlantic City.
In 2024, Ocean reported a gross operating profit of more than $101.3 million, though that was a 14% year-over-year decline. Only Borgata with a profit of $208.6 million and Hard Rock at $135.5 million performed better.
Ocean has become known in town and among Atlantic City regulars for having the most opulent hotel rooms. As such, last year, the property was able to demand the highest average nightly rate at $270.42. Caesars was a distant second at $185.59 and Hard Rock was third at $182.34. Borgata was fourth at $175.90.
Ocean sold 82% of its available room nights, which ranked third behind Hard Rock (87%) and Caesars (81%).

The beach has been expanded a lot for Ocean, Hard Rock and Resorts. Last year the beach was so small but they added a lot of sand to the north end of the boardwalk resorts. Ocean is ok, I do not play there much as the comps are a lot harder to get than Hard Rock and Borgata. Ocean also increased the prices of their rooms. I may give Ocean another try if they loosen up their comp policy but it is hard to beat Hard Rock for comps. I see that Ocean is opening three new restaurants which is good as they needed some more.
Exciting news..at some point my husband & I looked for alternative restaurants in other hotels. Glad to hear about these new renovations coming to Ocean . This will certainly keep us at this hotel to relax and eat in a new atmosphere. And alsi enjoy some exciting new things to do.
I'm so happy for the Ocean Casino I loved staying there. It's on a beautiful part of the the beach. I love it!!! Please bring back the comp rooms. I love coming to A.C but it's very expensive to stay. I'm a senior and would love coming back.
Was at the ocean casino on December for 3 night s Friday Saturday and Sunday check that Monday the rooms are filthy dirty checked in one then went to a new one it was the same thing next they want to give us another room but we moved twice and paid cash for three nights in the ocean Casino no comp it was $1,000 thrown away plus two of the Casino restaurants we're closed it was a bad 3 days
Nice to see some reinvestments happening. And I'm always happy to see more pai gow (poker) tables, especially if there's not going to be much regular poker. One suggestion: Make the mini golf a boozy, blacklit, adults-only venue with a DJ late night. Then clown it up so the kiddos can use it the next morning.
It's a great area and lots of beautiful views
Never been there luv to try it im.planning a trip July 4th yo come there
