Dragon Link Turns Las Vegas Vacation Into $1.89M Payday for Texas Tourist

A Las Vegas vacation turned into a life-changing trip for a lucky visitor from Texas on Friday (Aug. 7) night when he hit a Dragon Link progressive slot jackpot worth more than $1.89 million.

Resorts World Las Vegas tells Casino.org that a guest staying at the Strip resort hit the Dragon Link Grand Progressive Jackpot at 11:32 p.m. local time.

The winner told casino officials that he had only begun playing the machine about eight minutes earlier when he hit for $1,896,388.88. The big win came on a big bet. Playing at a denomination of $25, the winner said he decided to make a $250 spin when the Grand Progressive hit.

The Dragon Link series consists of nine machines, including Autumn Moon, Genghis Khan, Golden Century, Happy and Prosperous, Panda Magic, Peace and Long Life, Peacock Princess, Silk Road, and Spring Festival. The lucky spin came on Happy and Prosperous.

“The latest win adds to the excitement at Resorts World Las Vegas, which celebrated multimillion-dollar Megabucks jackpots earlier this year, continuing an impressive stretch of major wins on the casino floor,” a statement from the casino read.

Australia-based Aristocrat is the company behind the Dragon Link series. The game was a follow-up to the gaming manufacturer’s highly successful Lightning Link series.

Dragon Link on Fire

Friday’s $1.89 million in Las Vegas wasn’t the only million-dollar-plus Dragon Link slot windfall in recent weeks.

In Florida, a local playing on Aug. 2 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa won $1,305,986 on a $50 spin. The win came on Genghis Khan. The casino said it marked the property’s sixth slot jackpot of $1 million or more in 2026.

In New England, a guest in July playing at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut won $1,557,777 playing Dragon Link’s Happy and Prosperous. The life-changing outcome came on a $50 bet.

And in January, a guest at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek in Florida won $1,061,635.96 playing Dragon Link’s Golden Century on a $25 wager.

How Do Progressives Work?

Many slot machines advertise life-changing jackpots, but those big numbers aren’t generated solely by the individual machine. Instead, wide-area progressive (WAP) slots pool games together, with a small percentage of each bet, typically 1-10% depending on the game, added to the jackpot pool instead of the machine’s regular payout structure.

WAP slots are linked across multiple casinos, and sometimes, an entire state. Since thousands of machines are feeding the same jackpot, the prize grows quickly.
