- Industry heavyweights Caesars, DraftKings, and FanDuel headline the wave of incoming private brands
- Approved operators face a $50,000 CAD one-time application fee alongside a $150,000 CAD annual registration fee
- The new commercial framework ends the provincial monopoly currently held by government-run Play Alberta
With Alberta’s commercial iGaming market set to go live on July 13, the number of registered operators has already reached 43, the Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC) reports.

Alberta’s iGaming Regulatory Regime
The province is utilizing a tag-team approach to governance: the AGLC calls the shots on security standards, player compliance, and rigorous enforcement, while the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) serves as the official commercial “conduct and manage” authority.
To join the current roster of 43 approved operators, brands must clear AGLC’s background checks and cut a check for the entry costs—consisting of a $50,000 one-time application fee and a $150,000 annual per-site registration fee.
Those operators still need to finish the dual-step process with AiGC.
Incoming private operators are set to challenge the monopoly held by the government-run Play Alberta platform. Financially, the province will deduct 3% of gross gaming revenue upfront—allocating 2% to First Nations and 1% to social responsibility initiatives—before splitting the remaining net revenue 80/20 in favor of the operators.
Last week (May 28), Caesars Entertainment announced that Alberta residents 21 and over could download and register for Caesars Palace Online Casino, Caesars Sportsbook & Casino and Horseshoe Online Casino.
Delta Joins the Market
Rival operator Delta iGaming announced its official registration with AGLC on May 28, as part of the digital expansion of the Delta Bingo & Gaming brand, that’s been in existence for more than 60 years.
“We are thrilled to bring the Delta Casino experience to players in Alberta,” said Jason Karklins, Vice President, iGaming at Delta Casino.
“Alberta represents a tremendous opportunity, and we are proud to enter this market as a Canadian, family-owned company. For us, that means building an experience that feels welcoming and reliable, supported by a team that is entirely based right here in Canada, from our customer service representatives to our executive leadership.”
Bet99, Bally’s, BetMGM, BetVictor, bet365, DraftKings, Betway, Jackpot City, FanDuel, Golden Nugget, PointsBet, BetRivers and theScore Bet are some of the other brands set to go live in Alberta when the market launches on July 13.
