Novig Goes Sultry in Sydney Sweeney Prediction Market Ad Campaign

Novig, one of the fastest-growing prediction market operators, says Sydney Sweeney “knows ball.” So much so that the blonde bombshell actress is the star of the company’s new advertising.

Sweeney, one of the stars of the HBO hit shows “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus,” appears in a sultry commercial touting Novig’s status as a sports-only yes-no exchange. In a spot sure to make a lot of men blush, the actress is scantily clad, using basketballs, footballs and other sports equipment as cover from preventing the ad from becoming X-rated.

Sweeney seductively reminds viewers that they can bet/trade on a variety of sports on Novig, but not billiards though she says she looks good on the pool table featured in ad. Novig has her take a pot shot at rivals as the actress notes the exchange doesn’t offer event contracts on deaths, war and politics.

Demographics underscore why Sweeney’s appearance in Novig ads could pay dividends for the upstart prediction market operator.

By some estimates, the coveted 18 to 34 demographic accounts for 60% of prediction market traders, many of whom are males. Other data points indicate that in terms of narrower age cohorts, the 30 to 39 group represents more than 35% of prediction traders. In both cases, those groups are heavily inclined to be betting/trading sports. And it is men in the 18 to 34 demographic that are Sweeney’s core fan base.

“Men don’t ONLY like Sydney Sweeney for her (breasts), they like her bc she’s the first starlet in a long time to unrepentantly and cheerfully chase the male gaze,” wrote Inez Stepman, a Lincoln fellow at the Claremont Institute, in a 2024 X post. “She is clearly giving permission to ogle and enjoying that feminine power.”

The unveiling of the Sweeney ad campaign arrives just over a month after Novig launched its sports-only exchange on a nationwide basis. In short order, the operator is proving to be a formidable contender in the prediction market industry.

Not only has volume swelled on Novig in advance of football season, but the company is one of the industry’s fastest growers in terms of combo, or parlay turnover.

In other Novig news out today, co-founder and CEO Jacob Fortinsky announced the company will comply with the NFL’s request to yank markets the league considers “easily manipulable, inherently objectionable, officiating related, and knowable in advance.”
