Florida police are searching for three masked men who robbed approximately $250K from a couple after they arrived home from a gaming property visit over the weekend.

The robbers also stole personal items from the two victims in the couple’s driveway at their Boca Raton, Fla. residence at about midnight Saturday.

The Palm Beach Post reported that the thieves were hiding in bushes waiting for the couple at Northeast 29th Place. When the couple arrived in their driveway, the thieves approached them from behind. The robbers aimed firearms at the victims as they approached the entrance of their house.

Aimed Guns at Victims

The robbers then demanded their cash and personal valuables, such as watches, cellphones, and a purse, the Post reported. The robbers unsuccessfully attempted to steal the victims’ car, too.

The bandits were able to grab a gun from the car before fleeing the scene with the cash and valuables.

Local police found the victims’ cellphones on a nearby road, according to Florida TV station WPTV.

Descriptions Released

The suspects were wearing face masks and dark clothes at the time of the holdup. They were described as black males, possibly in their 20s, according to Florida TV station WPEC.

It appears police aren’t aware of the suspects’ identities, but they’re searching for home surveillance video in the neighborhood which may show the suspects or their get-away vehicle.

It’s possible, the suspects followed the casino visitors home from the unspecified gaming property. Police didn’t say if the couple won the money during a weekend stop at the casino.

If the robbers first saw the couple at the casino, it’s possible the suspects were caught on casino surveillance video cameras.

Nationally, casinos recommend that jackpot winners consider taking winnings in the form of a check rather than taking cash. Security guards can also escort winners to their cars, to ensure their security.

“I do believe that they’re going to find them eventually, but it is alarming the fact that they’re still out there,” one resident, Melissa Blau, told WPEC, about the robbers. “This comes off the heels of last year, where there was a ring of thieves stealing people’s cars.”
