During an appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court on Tuesday, Jiaying Chen, 33, said she plans to enter the pleas later this week.

One of the victims told police he gave Chen $40,000, while others reported losing $30,000, $23,000, and $20,000, all under the guise of helping her sick relatives in China.

Investigators concluded that Chen instead lost more than $300,000 at Wynn Las Vegas within a year.

According to investigators, between March 2019 and May 2024, Chen submitted 14 marriage applications to the Clark County Marriage License Bureau, ultimately obtaining seven marriage certificates.

Men told investigators they met Chen through social media. Relationships moved quickly, with Chen suggesting marriage after a short courtship. After the ceremony was performed, she began asking for large sums of money. After they sent it, several victims reported, Chen cut off contact.

Chen was first arrested in 2024. After posting bond, however, she failed to appear in court and disappeared.

Authorities located Chen again last month, still in Las Vegas, and arrested her under the alias “Vicky Liang.” Police say she had submitted eight additional marriage license applications under that name, resulting in seven more certificates. During the arrest, officers reported finding a fraudulent passport and a fraudulent Nevada driver’s license.

Chen now faces sentencing after her expected guilty plea later this week.
