Two Players Split $1.15M Progressive Baccarat Jackpot at Palms in Vegas

Key Points

  • Two players at Palms Casino Resort split a $1,154,924 progressive baccarat jackpot on October 30
  • The Las Vegas local and visiting tourist each collected $577,462 from the single winning hand
  • The jackpot triggered when all six dealt cards were clubs, forming a winning hand combination

A rare baccarat hand at Palms Casino Resort turned a single round of play into a seven-figure payday, with a Las Vegas local and a visiting tourist splitting a progressive jackpot worth $1,154,924.

Each player collected $577,462 after the jackpot was triggered on the same hand early Friday, Oct. 30, according to the casino.

Baccarat is a casino card game where players bet on whether the Banker hand, the Player hand or neither will win. The winning hand is the one that finishes with a total closest to nine.

While million-dollar payouts are common across Las Vegas casinos, this payout was unusual because two players shared the same progressive jackpot. Under the published Nevada rules for Baccarat Progressive, the top jackpot (100% of the meter) is a community prize divided equally among all players who placed the qualifying progressive wager on the round when the winning hand appears.

The casino has not disclosed how many players were seated at the table or released the odds of hitting the jackpot.

What also made the hand noteworthy was the card combination that triggered the prize. Casino officials said all six cards dealt were clubs. The qualifying outcome featured a three-card Banker hand totaling seven defeating a Player hand totaling zero, activating the progressive jackpot and producing matching payouts for both winners.

The latest win is not the first major baccarat jackpot reported at the off-Strip property even this year. In May, a Las Vegas player identified by the casino as Jian W. turned a $5 progressive side bet into a $1,117,842 jackpot. The casino said that win also stemmed from a qualifying suited baccarat hand, although it did not release the exact card combination.

Big payouts have also come from the resort’s slot floor. On Feb. 15, a guest won a $609,346 Platinum Bonus Jackpot while playing IGT’s Whitney Houston-themed slot machine. The jackpot was hit on a $20 spin.

The largest publicly reported jackpot at the Palms remains a $2,170,581.77 Wheel of Fortune payout won by an out-of-state visitor in July 2024. According to published reports, the player hit the jackpot on a $3 wager with just 46 cents left in credits on the machine.
