- Rory McIlroy won his first Masters this month
- Oddsmakers are taking bets on whether Rory will win the remaining three majors
- No golfer has ever won all four modern majors in a single calendar year
Rory McIlroy capped off the career grand slam earlier this month when he finally donned the green jacket at Augusta National Golf Club. McIlroy won the Masters on his 17th attempt.

This week, McIlroy is teeing it up for the first time since his historic win at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans with longtime friend Shane Lowry in the two-man team event. McIlroy and Lowry, the defending champs, are favored to repeat at TPC Louisiana at +350. Colin Morikawa and Kurt Kitayama are a distant second at +1400.
McIlroy, who narrowed his gap behind Scottie Scheffler in the World Golf Rankings with his win at Augusta, will return to competitive stroke play in May with the Truist Championship, a signature event at The Philadelphia Cricket Club, and then golf’s second major of the year with the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.
McIlroy’s Grand Slam Odds
It took McIlroy 14 years from his first major championship — the 2011 United States Open — to the 2025 Masters to complete the career grand slam. After becoming only the sixth golfer in the history of the sport to win each of the four majors — the others being Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods — sportsbooks are seizing on the opportunity by asking bettors if they think McIlroy can now win all four majors in a row.
BetMGM has the odds of McIlroy winning the next three majors at 80/1, or implied odds of 1.23%. A $5 bet and Rory winning the PGA, US Open, and Open would net $400. DraftKings has the odds even shorter at +6500, with a $5 wager winning just $325. For such an unimaginable feat to come true, the odds are slim to entice any serious action.
After Woods won the 2019 Masters, the same bettor who risked $85K on Tiger claiming his first green jacket in 14 years, a bet that netted him $1,190,000, bet $100K that he would win the grand slam that year. The $100K bet was risked on 100/1 odds, which would have netted $10 million. Woods, of course, didn’t win another major that year, or since.
2025 Major Venues
With the Masters in his pocket, McIlroy would need to win the PGA, US Open at Oakmont, and The Open Championship at Royal Portrush. While the odds are exceedingly long, as no player in golf history has ever captured all four championships in a single calendar year (Tiger, however, held all four championships over two years), the 2025 major venues could be in McIlroy’s favor.
McIlroy has enjoyed much success at Quail Hallow. The site of his first PGA Tour victory in 2010, McIlroy has since won three times at the North Carolina venue.
As for The Open, McIlroy is quite familiar with Royal Portrush, dating back to when he was a 16-year-old and shot a course record 61 on the championship layout in his native Northern Ireland. However, McIlroy struggled when The Open was last held at Royal Portrush in 2019, where he missed the cut.
McIlroy also missed the cut the last time the US Open was played at Oakmont in 2019.
