iGaming Ontario today posted steady year-over-year growth in the province’s competitive igaming market – CAD $82.7 billion in total wagers and CAD $3.2 billion in gross gaming revenue for fiscal year 2024/25.
$82.7 Billion in Total Wagers
The report covered the financial year from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, the regulated market’s third full year. The igaming market in Ontario went live April 4, 2022.
These results show Ontario is home to a truly dynamic igaming market with a strong roster of operators, and a world-class list of games available for players,” said Heidi Reinhart, Chair of the Board of Directors.
“With 49 operators offering 84 gaming sites, Ontario’s regulated market continues to grow by offering a safer environment for Ontarians to play.”
49 Operators and 84 Gaming Sites
The total wagers number (does not include promotional wagers or bonuses) was a 31% increase over 2023-24. Total gaming revenue was a 32% increase over 2023-24. This figure represents total cash wagers, including rake fees, tournament fees, and other fees, across all operators, player winnings derived from cash wagers and does not take into account operating costs or other liabilities.
According to an IPSOS study commissioned by iGaming Ontario and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (the third annual IPSOS study), 83.7% of Ontarians chose to play on regulated sites (over the preceding three months when they were asked), with 16.3% of respondents saying they wagered on unregulated websites.
Notably – that number in last year’s IPSOS study at the two-year mark for the industry was 86.4% (13.6% saying they wagered on unregulated websites).
Increase in People Using Unregulated Sites
Before the launch of Ontario’s open and regulated market in 2022, it was estimated that 70 per cent of online gambling was occurring on unregulated sites.
Casino continues to dominate the igaming market in the province – CAD $69.6 billion in total wagers (34% increase over 2023-24), with betting (including sports betting, esports, proposition, novelty bets as well as exchange betting) at CAD $11.4 billion (17% increase) and peer-to-peer poker at CAD $1.7 billion (2% increase).
On the gaming revenue breakdown end, casino revenue was at CAD $2.4 billion for the year (36% increase), with betting at CAD $724 million (23% increase) and P2P poker at CAD $66 million (same as 2023-24).
