Chadwick was told during a closed-door meeting on Thursday that she must either quit within three weeks or she will be fired, according to Las Vegas TV station KTNV.

Chief Offered Buyout

The Las Vegas Review-Journal also reported she was offered a buyout.

The Henderson police chief was put on a three-week administrative leave where at the end of that leave, she can accept a buyout or be fired,” one unnamed source told the Review-Journal.

No word on what the specifics of the offer include.

What’s fundamentally more unclear is what led to this stern response from city officials.

On Thursday night, city authorities released a statement to KTNV, which said, “Chief Hollie Chadwick is on leave. Deputy Chief Itzhak Henn is the acting Chief. We cannot comment further on personnel matters.”

Henn declined to comment on the action against Chadwick when contacted by a reporter from Las Vegas TV station KLAS.

None of the statements or news reports explained or provided details on the incident which led to the order to quit, according to local news reports.

Henderson City Manager Stephanie Garcia-Vause is in charge of hiring and firing the city’s police chief, KLAS reported.

Decades of Experience

Chadwick was named Henderson police chief on May 1, 2023, after several years in the department. She first joined the department in August 2002.

As she gained more experience, Chadwick was named a training officer and a negotiator, KTNV reported. In 2011, she was named a sergeant, and in 2015, was promoted to lieutenant. She was named a captain in 2019. She also has overseen the department’s SWAT team, according to KLAS.

Chadwick is a member of the International Association Chiefs of Police Committee on Homeland Security.

Over recent years, other former Henderson police chiefs left due to controversies. LaTesha Watson filed a lawsuit against the city in 2023 and Patrick Moers filed a lawsuit against the city in 2018, according to KLAS.

Henderson is located about 15 miles south of Las Vegas.
