- Great Wolf Lodge is a water and adventure park
Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., is ready to thrill younger guests with its newest amenity — a $300 million Great Wolf Lodge.

Announced in 2022 in conjunction with its 30th anniversary, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation announced a $385 million expansion. While $85 million went to open a new 50K-square-foot gaming facility — the Pequot Woodlands Casino — and The Bedford by Martha Stewart, the bulk of the capital was set aside for a Great Wolf Lodge.
Construction on the Water Park and Adventure Park, along with the eight-story, 549-room lodge hotel, outpaced the construction timeline.
Originally set to open in June 2025, officials with Foxwoods say the family-friendly resort component will now open to the public on May 6. The Great Wolf Lodge held a soft opening this past weekend.
Will Great Wolf Guests Gamble?
It’s been many years since Foxwoods was primarily a destination only for gamblers. Today, the resort has an array of enticements for all ages, including more than 30 restaurants, a Tangler Outlets shopping center, ziplining, escape and adventure rooms, a bowling alley, an arcade, walking and hiking trails, indoor golf simulators, two 18-hole golf courses, go-karting, and a “7-D multisensory immersive experience.”
Great Wolf will only further diversify Foxwoods with more family-friendly amenities. Brian Hayes, senior vice president of gaming operations, told Casino.org in February that Foxwoods’ “many amenities that you aren’t going to find at some of the smaller [casino] properties being built in the region” has allowed the tribal complex to remain more than competitive in an increasingly crowded Northeast gaming market.
Hayes expects some Great Wolf guests to patronize the main Foxwoods property.
Being able to come to Great Wolf and spend the day at the water park and then spend the evening here walking around the property with the kids will be very complementary,” Hayes said.
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation’s pathway to economic sovereignty began in the mid-1980s when it opened a bingo hall on its tribal lands in Connecticut. The bingo hall became a casino in February 1992 after Congress passed the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), which provided a legal framework for federally recognized tribes to operate certain forms of gaming. For Las Vegas-style slots and live dealer table games, tribes must enter into Class III gaming compacts with their host state.
Over the past three decades, Foxwoods has undergone numerous expansions to become one of the world’s largest casino environments. With the Woodlands introduction, Foxwoods now has five distinct casinos offering a combined 2,900 slots, 250 table games, poker, bingo, keno, and sports betting via DraftKings.
Attractive Market
Chicago-based Great Wolf Resorts will have 23 properties in North America once Foxwoods Great Wolf Lodge opens next month. Great Wolf officials think its Connecticut location will become among its most successful destinations since it’s located about halfway between New York City and Boston.
To celebrate its latest addition, Great Wolf is offering rooms at discounted rates of up to 30% off for stays from April 28 through July 11, 2025. Bookings must be made by April 30 to qualify for the discount.
Great Wolf Lodge guests have unlimited access to the water slides and pools. The Adventure Park is available for an additional cost.
For a two-night weekend stay on May 16-18 for a family of four, nightly room rates begin at $339. After taxes and fees, the base price comes to $871.68.

Took my son for his birthday for a weekend and was slightly unimpressed. The cost of it was ridiculous… it was a cute idea with the build a bear and birthday pass. I will not be going back anytime soon.
My family and I just returned from the newest one in Texas. The kids really enjoyed themselves. A bit smaller than I expected. I think Grapevine is much better. We did get a good deal on our reservation but everything there is wayyy overpriced. It’s ridiculous!!
I work at the lodge, and this is so new and exciting.I love my job! I enjoy seeing the families with there happy faces on. The kids faces are priceless. We give out wolf ears. It's great experience for people of all ages. Come check us out.
This day in age trying to save enough is next to impossible. I'm disabled with TBI and have a 3yr old and 4yr old. There's great value in the package stays but it takes years for someone like me to plan a family trip to a place like this.
