- Authorities are investigating last week’s arson at a Tesla collision center in Las Vegas as a possible terrorist act
- Attacks on Tesla facilities and vehicles have happened in at least nine states since January
- Officials ask that people report any suspicious Tesla-related activity to their local police or FBI
The FBI released a public service announcement last Friday addressing the nationwide incidents regarding Tesla vehicles and dealerships following last Tuesday’s fire at the Tesla Collision Center in Las Vegas.

The Vegas incident is just one of many throughout the US where Tesla dealerships and other related Tesla entities were targeted, with those cases consisting primarily of arson, vandalism, and gunfire.
Tesla vehicle-related incidents have occurred in at least nine different states since January 2025. The recurring incidents are thought to have been enacted by opponents of the company’s controversial CEO and President Trump’s head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk, and to have taken place during the nighttime.
“Individuals require little planning to use rudimentary tactics, such as improvised incendiary devices and firearms, and may perceive these attacks as victimless property crimes,” the FBI announcement reads.
The FBI strongly advises people to stay vigilant and to practice awareness around Tesla dealerships and entities in case of any suspicious or doubtful behavior.
Potential threat activity includes violent online threats that refer to Tesla properties, enquiring about Tesla dealership security or Tesla-related entities, photography of the dealerships’ security-related aspects, or making efforts to access restricted areas or overcome security measures set in place.
Las Vegas Collision Center Fire
The FBI’s announcement comes soon after the arson incident that happened at a Tesla collision center in Las Vegas in which several Tesla vehicles were set on fire by an individual at around 2:45 am last Tuesday at the facility located at 6260 Badura Avenue. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) reported the suspected arsonist was seen wearing all black clothing and used a firearm and Molotov cocktails to set at least five Tesla vehicles ablaze.
The front doors of the collision center were also seen to have had the word “resist” written on them in paint.
In a police briefing after the incident, Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren said the LVMPD had received multiple 911 calls about a fire around the time of the incident. FBI special agent Spencer Evans, also speaking at the briefing, said the incident resembled terrorist activity as it displays “the hallmarks” of such acts.
Tesla CEO Response to Attacks
Elon Musk responded to the recent nationwide incidents in a Tesla all-hands live presentation posted on X.
“I understand if you don’t want to buy our product, but you don’t have to burn it down. That’s a bit unreasonable, you know,” Musk said.
The FBI’s announcement provided contact resources in the presence of an emergency or any threats.
The FBI strongly recommends that people contact local law enforcement or 911 right away in case of an emergency, and to contact their local FBI office at 1-800-CALL-FBI, or visit tips.fbi.gov, to report a threat.
“Reporting these crimes can help law enforcement identify violent or malicious actors and prevent further damage,” the FBI announcement stated.
The FBI urges the public to always have an awareness of their surroundings and to report any suspicious encounters or incidents to authorities.
