Put down theScore Bet as one of the first companies to be approved as a registered igaming operator by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC), with its mobile sports betting and icasino platform ready to launch when the province’s market goes live July 13.

Sports Betting and Online Casino Product
The news about theScore Bet was first announced this morning by PENN Entertainment Inc.’ President and CEO Jay Snowden during an earning’s call.
PENN owns theScore Bet, which launched in Ontario’s igaming market the day it went live – April 4, 2022, at 12:01 a.m., more specifically.
“We’re continuing to see positive trends in Ontario, including year over year growth in average MAUs, OSB revenue, and iCasino revenue,” said Snowden. “These results reflect the strength of theScore Bet brand in Canada and our realigned digital strategy, which we think bodes well for the anticipated July 13th launch of regulated iCasino and online sports betting in Alberta.
Early Launcher in Ontario Market
theScore Bet has been approved as a registered iGaming Operator by the AGLC, and pre-registration efforts have begun in the province.”
Last week, DraftKings confirmed that its online sportsbook and casino product would be available when the Alberta market launches. Several othger major brands have also indicated they will be there early as well, some of which already have launched pre-registration platforms – BetMGM, BetRivers, Betway, NorthStar, Betty, PointsBet Canada, FanDuel among those.
July 13 Alberta Launch

theScore Bet is available in 20 U.S. states as well as Canada.
Alberta’s new igaming regulatory regime will be open and competitive, similar to Ontario’s model. AGLC is serving as the lead regulator, while the new Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) is in a conduct and manage role, supervising private operators, focusing on player protection, advertising rules and self-exclusion.
