Woman Arrested for Abandoning Puppy at Vegas Airport

  • A woman was arrested for abandoning her dog at the Las Vegas airport
  • Police found the 2-year-old goldendoodle tethered to a post following a dispute over paperwork
  • The animal, renamed JetBlue, has already been flooded with hundreds of adoption applications

A woman was arrested for allegedly abandoning her 2-year-old goldendoodle at Harry Reid International Airport on February 2, after being told she lacked the proper paperwork to fly with him.

JetBlue employees said they informed the woman, Germiran Bryson, that she needed to complete the required paperwork for him to fly as a service dog. When she failed to provide the documentation, she was denied boarding.

Instead of leaving the airport with the dog or arranging care, she walked away.

Las Vegas police, who released airport surveillance video documenting the incident on Facebook, arrived on scene around 11:40 p.m. to find the dog tethered to a metal post near the JetBlue ticket counter. An officer located Bryson at her departure gate, where she justified her action by saying “I was trying to rebook my flight.”

“So you walked out here to re-book your flight?” the officer asked.

“”Yeah, that’s what they told me at the counter,” she replied.

“To walk out here without your dog?” the officer asked.

Police said Bryson said the dog had a tracking chip implanted and therefore would find his way back to her.

At first, police offered to walk Bryson back to the dog and issue her a citation. However, they reported, she became “hostile” when they attempted to detain her, resisting as she was escorted through a security checkpoint.

She was arrested and booked on three misdemeanor charges, including animal abandonment and resisting a public officer.

The dog — renamed JetBlue by rescuers — was picked up by Animal Control and transferred to Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas, where he was put up for adoption.

“We can’t believe we have to say this… but please don’t abandon your dog at the airport — or anywhere else,” police said in their Facebook post.

If you’re looking to adopt Jet Blue, you’ve probably been beaten to it. In a Facebook post, the organization said he “has received so many applications & inquiries … but we have many other amazing dogs just like him who are also waiting for their second chance.”
