  • Universal Horror Unleashed will open in downtown Las Vegas in August
  • The attraction will provide visitors with four different haunted house experiences
  • Universal’s new venue will become the anchor of Vegas’ popular Area15 entertainment complex

“Universal Horror Unleashed” will open on August 14 at the Area15 entertainment complex southwest of the Las Vegas Strip. Tickets are now on sale.

Spanning 110K square feet (2.5 acres), the attraction will feature the following themed haunted houses, all designed by Universal Destinations & Experiences, the twisted team behind the seasonal “Halloween Horror Nights” at Universal Studios theme parks:

  1. Universal Monsters: Drawing from classic Universal films such as “Frankenstein,” “Dracula” and “The Wolf Man,” this house will likely feature a fresh take on these characters, building on their frequent appearances at “Halloween Horror Nights.”
  2. “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”: Based on the 1974 film, this house will immerse guests in Leatherface’s gruesome world.
  3. “The Exorcist: Believer”: Tied to the 2023 film, this house will reflect Universal’s partnership with Blumhouse Productions. Despite the movie’s critical flop (22% on Rotten Tomatoes), its 2023 “Halloween Horror Nights” version was well-received.
  4. “Scarecrow: The Reaping”: Previously featured at “Halloween Horror Nights” in Florida in 2017 and Hollywood in 2018, this is an original concept from Universal Creative that’s not based on a movie series.

When you’ve had enough of screaming in terror, you can also enjoy live entertainment, horror-inspired dining, and bars.

It’s a gamble on horror’s enduring appeal, backed by Universal’s decades of genre expertise. If successful, “Universal Horror Unleashed” could redefine how theme park companies approach permanent, niche attractions.

Tickets can be purchased online at UniversalHorrorUnleashed.com. Prices range from $69 per haunted house to $99 for unlimited access for the date and time booked.

Subversive Immersive

“Universal Horror Unleashed” will be the anchor tenant of a 20-acre expansion of AREA15 designated last August by the city of Las Vegas as “the Vegas Immersive District.

Once completed in 2037, the entertainment development — spanning 80 acres owned by the Fisher family since 2005 — will also include 200 hotel rooms, 320K square feet of office space, and 418K square feet of retail and dining,

The district is projected to welcome 3.5 million guests each year, with $796 million in annual onsite spending.
