UK Betting Odds Favor Metallica for Next Vegas Sphere Residency

  • Metallica leads the UK betting odds for the next Sphere residency at 6:1
  • Harry Styles, heavily rumored to be the next Sphere act to announce, is in a second-place tie

Despite rampant speculation that their homegrown pop superstar, Harry Styles, will be the next act to announce a Las Vegas Sphere residency, British sports bettors think a harder act is more likely.

Metallica leads the betting odds as 6:1 favorites, according to UK sports betting community OLBG.com. In fact, Styles, who had been the previous frontrunner, now only ties for second place with another American hard-rock band, Tool, at 7:1 odds.

British virtual band the Gorillaz (led by Blur’s Damn Albarn) placed fourth at 8:1, followed by American pop star Chappell Roan at 9:1.

Next Las Vegas Sphere Residency Odds Probability
Metallica 6/1 14.3%
Tool 7/1 12.5%
Harry Styles 7/1 12.5%
Gorillaz 8/1 11.1%
Chappell Roan 9/1 10.0%

Metal-morphosis

The shift toward Metallica began in January, after bassist Robert Trujillo was asked by Metal Hammer whether his group had been approached to play James Dolan’s globular wonder and he didn’t say no.

“You’d have to ask Lars that question,” Trujillo replied, referring to Lars Ulrich, the band’s drummer and business brain. “He’s always the guy with his finger on the pulse, so we’re happy to let him go ahead with all this cutting-edge stuff, exploring possibilities.

“So if we do end up playing the Sphere, I’d say that seed is being planted about now.”

Metallica fits the Sphere’s mold: iconic, visually dynamic bands with deep catalogs and huge, older followings. In addition, the band’s three-year “M72” tour wraps around Thanksgiving this year, leaving the members free after that.

Metallica has played Vegas often since supporting Ozzy Osbourne during its “Master of Puppets” tour in 1986. Most recently, it played Allegiant Stadium in February 2022.

Ulrich was spotted at U2’s Sphere opening gig in September 2023.

OLBG (Online Betting Guide) was founded in 2002 as a resource for navigating the then-new world of online betting. According to its football and racing pages, it partners with “25+ leading UK bookmakers” for its odds comparisons.
