Fanatics Expands Free Player Injury Protection to Full NFL, NBA Games

Key Points

  • Fanatics expands its FAIR PLAY injury protection program to cover entire NFL and NBA games
  • Eligible player prop bets receive automatic protection, with refunds or FanCash depending on injury timing
  • Fanatics separately compensated bettors after Giants running back Cam Skattebo was benched against New Orleans

With the National Basketball Association (NBA) tipping off its new season and the National Football League (NFL) entering Week 7, Fanatics Sports & Casino is expanding its player injury protection program to provide full-game coverage for customers betting on both leagues at no additional cost.

The protection applies automatically to eligible player prop wagers, with no opt-in, promotional token, or claim required.

How Injury Refunds Work

Called FAIR PLAY Max Pledge, if a player wagered on leaves injured and doesn’t return, that leg is voided. On a single bet, the customer’s stake comes back. On a parlay, the remaining legs keep playing.

Before halftime, that happens on the spot. After halftime, it returns as FanCash once the game ends. On parlays with legs still to play, FanCash is credited once every leg has settled.

FanCash is the company’s rewards currency, which customers can redeem for merchandise, trading cards, game tickets, and additional sportsbook wagers.

Industry First

“At Fanatics, everything we build starts with making the fan experience better,” said Ted Moss, President, Sportsbook at Fanatics Betting and Gaming.

“We were the first in the industry to launch player injury protection with FAIR PLAY, and now we’re the first to cover the whole game at no charge to the customer.”

Fanatics also offered a separate example of its customer-friendly approach this past Sunday (Oct. 18), following the New York Giants’ 34-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Skattebo Bettors Receive FanCash Compensation

Giants running back Cam Skattebo, a popular pregame prop bet and the Giants’ lead rusher, was benched because of recurring fumbling issues. Although Skattebo was not injured, Fanatics announced it would compensate customers holding losing straight bets on the running back with FanCash.

“Shocked that Cam Skattebo saw ZERO touches today? Us too, so we’ve got your back on ALL losing Skattebo straight bets. Had a losing straight that got benched? We’ve got you covered in FanCash,” Fanatics said in an X post.

Full game player protection with FAIR PLAY will cover every NFL and NBA game, all season long.
