A Pennsylvania couple recently won $7M in the multistate lottery game Cash4Life. Monroe County residents, Stephen Juhasz III and his wife Shana have lots of plans with their newfound wealth.

Both work hard. Stephen works as a manager at a McDonald’s restaurant. Shana works as a nurse and attends school.
Some of the money will help the couple get more education. Shana eventually wants to become a nurse practitioner. Other winnings will improve their lives in other ways.
Stopped at Store for Donuts, Ice Cream
Shana was the one who purchased the winning ticket at Giant Food Stores in Northampton County for the January 3 drawing. She went to the store to purchase ice and donuts for their daughter. While there, she picked up lottery tickets, too.
Stephen revealed that Shana normally buys a Powerball and Mega Millions ticket, and sometimes she’ll buy a random ticket.
This time she randomly bought Cash4Life,” he explained in statement released by the state lottery office. “She chose the numbers using Quick Pick.”
The next day, she called him at work.
I told her to scan the ticket on the PA Lottery app. As she’s reading the results to me, I said, ‘Can you read them to me again?’ As she’s reading, I screamed and ran out of work. I called my boss and told him I had to leave,” Stephen said.
Disney World Trip Is Dream Come True
Beyond paying for tuition, the couple wants to purchase a house, set aside some college money for their three young children, and take a family trip to Walt Disney World. (Their kids are now 10, 9 and 2.)
I’ve always dreamed of taking them to Disney,” Shana said.
“I work at McDonald’s, and I’m going to go back to school and learn something about finance,” Stephen added. He’s going to keep his restaurant job for the immediate future.
Both will be able to pay off student loans, as well.
The grocery store will receive $10K for selling the winning ticket
It’s Top Prize
Their cash prize represents the first time that the Pennsylvania Lottery awarded a $7M top prize in the Cash4Life multistate game.
Cash4Life offers a top prize of $1K a day for life, or a one-time $7M payment. After federal and state taxes are withheld, the couple will receive an estimated $5,105,100 under the one-time payment.
We are thrilled that this historic win in Pennsylvania is delivering a life-changing prize to Stephen, Shana, and their family,” Pennsylvania Secretary of Revenue Pat Browne added in the statement.
“We also want to recognize our retailer partner, Giant Food Stores, for selling this ticket. Thanks to our dedicated players and retailers, the Pennsylvania Lottery continues to generate funds for critical programs and services that benefit older Pennsylvanians all across the Commonwealth.”
Pennsylvania joined the game in 2015. Since then, the Pennsylvania Lottery awarded 17 second-tier Cash4Life prizes.
Each play costs $2. Players choose five numbers between 1 and 60, and one between 1 and 4, the green Cash Ball. Players can choose their own numbers using a play slip or use computer-selected Quick Pick numbers.
