  • Kevin Durant looking to move on from the Phoenix Suns
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo has had enough with trade rumours that he’s looking to leave the Milwaukee Bucks
  • DraftKings has odds on both scenarios playing out

Kevin Durant is working with his agent and the Phoenix Suns to come up with a trade scenario, likely before the NBA draft on June 25. That’s according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

In the NBA, trade chatter generates as much online buzz as the actual games it seems.

The NBA Finals are currently going on, with Game 4 between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers scheduled for Friday in Indianapolis at 8:30 pm EST. The Pacers lead the series 2-1. The Thunder are -250 this morning at BetMGM (21% of bets, 36% handle) while the Pacers +200 (79% bets, 64% handle).

Today, Charania reported the list has been whittled down to three teams: the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves and Houston Rockets are in the conversation for Durant, the 15-time all-star.

Durant reportedly rejected a trade back to the Golden State Warriors in February.

Spurs With the Shortest Odds

The Suns finished out of the playoffs, at 36-46, last in the Pacific Division, but the 36-year-old Durant still averaged 26.6 points per game, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 52.7% in field goal efficiency.

DraftKings has released odds on where Durant will land, including a reunion with the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he made his mark as a superstar from 2008-2016.

According to the sportsbook:

  • The Spurs have the shortest odds at +100
  • Heat +250
  • Timberwolves +400
  • Rockets +600
  • Suns +1500
  • Knicks +1500
  • Raptors +3000
  • Thunder +3000

Raptors Generating Buzz

The Raptors are reportedly looking to make a substantive roster move this off-season, after finishing 30-52 and out of the playoffs. Canada’s team (Friday marks the sixth anniversary of their NBA championship win) is making a lot of calls in search of fresh talent.

The Raptors acquired Brandon Ingram from the New Orleans Pelicans at the trade deadline, and hold the ninth overall pick in the upcoming draft, with the latest mock draft having them going for a center.

Ingraham didn’t play for the team over the remainder of the season because he was nursing an ankle injury, with the team intent on bringing him back healthy this upcoming season, to complement a young core that includes Scottie Barnes, Immanuel Quickley, and R.J. Barrett.

Meanwhile, Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors have been circulating, fueled in part by Charania (reporting in May that Antetokounmpo hadn’t made any firm commitments about his future with the Bucks). DraftKings has posted odds on where they think he’ll land:

  • Bucks -500
  • Knicks +600
  • Raptors +850
  • Spurs +1200
  • Rockets +1600
  • Heat +2500
  • Mavericks +2500

Antetokounmpo, however, has made loyalty to his current team, the Bucks, pretty clear.

“The Finals are different, I hope to be back soon with the Bucks,” he told a Brazilian media outlet.

Then he ratcheted up his frustration towards Charania’s reporting in an X post:

Does anyone else miss Woj?!” he posted, referring to recently retired NBA writer Adrian Wojnarowski, Charania’s rival on the NBA news-breaking front.

Antetokounmpo has won a championship with the Bucks and has long been loyal to the Milwaukee community. The Bucks are the only organization Antetokounmpo has played for, over 12 seasons, and this season he finished third in league MVP voting (behind MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Thunder and Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets).

Mutual Interest With Raptors?

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported here there is presently no Antetokounmpo trade market: he hasn’t asked for a trade and the Bucks have no intention of trading him.

Still, the Bucks are in a tough spot. At 30, Antetokounmpo is still in his prime and the Bucks, who have been knocked out of the first round of the playoffs for the past three seasons, are looking at an aging roster compounded by the loss of Damian Lillard, who will miss most or all of next season after suffering an Achilles injury.

The Toronto Star reported recently that there was “mutual interest” between the Raptors and Antetokounmpo. The Star’s reporter, Doug Smith, was also quick to cushion the report, saying he wasn’t sure about the validity of the rumor, and with NBA chatter being the way it is, one couldn’t blame him.
