Morrissey Axes Wynn Las Vegas Residency One Week Before Opener

Morrissey has done it to Las Vegas again. The former Smiths frontman has canceled his four-show Sin City residency just days before it was scheduled to begin. The British pop star was set to perform at the Encore Theater on Aug. 14–15 and Aug. 18–19 in what would have been his debut at Wynn Resorts.

Ticket holders were informed Friday that his shows were off due to “unforeseen logistical challenges,” as Rolling Stone reported on Saturday (Aug. 8) — after thousands had already purchased travel and hotel accommodations just to attend the shows.

Both Morrissey’s official website and the Wynn removed the shows from their website, and Ticketmaster’s site delivered the following message to disappointed fans…

The shows were to have served as a high-profile launch for the 67-year-old’s summer and fall U.S. tour promoting Make‑Up Is a Lie, his 14th solo album, which was released on March 6, 2026.

We Warned You

Back in April, Casino.org suggested fans spring for refundable airfare and hotel reservations before committing to the trip. That’s because the famously temperamental singer has canceled or postponed nearly as many Las Vegas dates as he has actually played.

Between 2012 and 2013, Morrissey postponed a single scheduled performance at the Cosmopolitan three separate times before abandoning it entirely.

Originally set for Nov. 23, 2012, at the Chelsea, it was pushed to Feb. 9, 2013, and finally to April 20, 2013, before being canceled. At the time, Morrissey cited family matters and health issues, including a bleeding ulcer and double pneumonia.

In November 2023, Morrissey pulled a House of Blues at Mandalay Bay show on short notice, citing “physical exhaustion.”

Two more Chelsea performances were postponed in July 2024 because of “unforeseen circumstances,” followed by two early 2025 cancellations blamed on “technical issues” and “logistical complications.”

We’re Not Done

Morrissey’s first two shows of 2026, in Rancho Mirage and San Diego, were postponed after what was described as an adverse reaction to prescription medication.

A month later, a scheduled appearance in Valencia, Spain, was canceled because of “sleep deprivation.” Morrissey said noisy festivalgoers outside his hotel kept him awake the night before the concert—an ordeal he promised he would need a full year to recover from.
