MLB World Series Champion Odds: Who Are the Best Value Picks?

Key Points

  • The Market Favorites : "LA Dodgers to win" | “Yes” at 38¢ | 38% Chance
  • Potential Upside: "New York Yankees to win" | “Yes” at 11¢ | 11% Chance
  • The High Value Pick: “Milwaukee Brewers to win” | “Yes” at 9¢ | 8.9% Chance

We’re now deep into the second half of the 2026 MLB season, with the start of the playoffs barely six weeks away.

The American and National Leagues are certainly taking shape, with the recent NL headlines dominated by a significant slump in form for the LA Dodgers.

Heavy public bias means that the defending champions remain heavy World Series favorites in the MLB prediction markets, but there are alternate picks available that offer superior value and a far greater upside.

These include the Milwaukee Brewers and the New York Yankees, with the former boasting the best regular season record in 2026 so far. But what are the best value picks in the market, and which strategies can you use to minimize your risk of loss and exposure?

MLB World Series Champions Odds: A Brief Overview

The 2026 MLB World Series will commence on Friday, October 23rd, after the Championship finals. The best-of-seven game series could run until Saturday, October 31st, and this is the final date at which the market will be settled.

The LA Dodgers remain the clear favorites among traders, with their win probability having increased from 28% on July 15th to 38% at the time of writing. This is despite their poor run of recent form, and there’s no doubt that a current price of 38¢ offers minimal upside during the regular season alone.

Conversely, both the Yankees and the Brewers appear relatively underpriced at present, alongside the impressive Tampa Bay Rays. These franchises create potential opportunities to buy, sell, and lock in profits both before and during the postseason.

Much depends on your preferred strategy and appetite for risk, but there are several options to consider and a relatively large trading window in which to operate.

The Defending World Series Champions – Will the Dodgers Achieve an Incredible Three-Peat?

“LA Dodgers to win the World Series” | “Yes” at 35¢ | 35% Chance

The Dodgers price was boosted significantly on August 1st, when the franchise acquired pitcher Tarik Skubal from the Tigers. He has a career record of 61–43 and a 3.04 ERA, with the Dodgers keen to address a pitching slump that has seen them fall to the 23rd in the MLB in ERA during August.

Injuries to Shohei Ohtani and Blake Snell have compounded these issues, which have contributed to a 3-7 run and seen LA’s win-rate decline to .600.

Clearly, the arrival of Skubal has helped keep the Dodgers’ price artificially high, as has strong public sentiment and bias. However, buying “Yes” shares at 38¢ offers minimal flexibility or opportunity to exit, with the price highly unlikely to increase much further prior to the postseason.

So, if your preferred strategy is to buy shares and flip within a short timeframe, there are better options in the World Series winner market. However, buying and holding “Yes” shares on the Dodgers into the postseason can deliver more sizable profits, while also incurring a much higher risk of loss.

A Sleeping Giant – Will the Yankees Odds Soar in September?

“New York Yankees to win the World Series” | “Yes” at 11¢ | 11% Chance

On Polymarket and other top prediction market platforms, the New York Yankees now have an 11% chance of winning this year’s World Series. ESPN has afforded the franchise an 11.8% win probability, too, after a slew of inconsistent performances have left them second in the AL East with a win rate of just .563.

At the heart of their struggles is a huge injury list, with Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Cody Bellinger, and Carlos Rodón all currently absent. However, all four are expected to return to action before the end of August, with Bellinger already running at 90% top speed and participating in batting practice.

The restoration of the Yankees’ full-strength lineup should lead to an upturn in fortunes, and potentially help them to close the gap on Tampa Bay in the divisional championship race. This could cause the franchise’s price to increase significantly in a short period of time, even above a previous peak of 16¢ on June 25th.

This may create opportunities to sell and lock in a profit, either during the regular season or playoffs (the Yankees retain a 97.4% probability of reaching the postseason). I don’t see them winning the World Series this year, but they’re definitely underpriced in the current market.

Milwaukee Brewers Odds – Can They Capitalize on the Dodgers Downturn?

“Milwaukee Brewers to win the World Series” | “Yes” at 9¢ | 8.9% Chance

In terms of high value picks, the Milwaukee Brewers stand out here. You can trade “Yes” on the Brewers winning a maiden World Series at just 9¢, while the side has an 8.9% chance of achieving this objective.

Milwaukee now has the best regular season record in 2026, going 74-46 so far and compiling a .617 win-rate. This is despite a mixed recent run of 5-5, with the franchise boasting the second-best home record in the MLB behind the Bay Rays.

They’ve also retained much of the youthful and athletic roster that reached the NL Championship series last season, while Jacob Misiorowski has emerged as the MLB’s best pitcher with an ERA of just 1.76.

Only 12 players have scored more than Brice Turang’s 74 runs this season, too, while the franchise’s incredible minor league depth can supplement the starting lineup and provide substantial cover.

If the Dodgers continue their mixed form, the Brewers may be one of the biggest beneficiaries, as increased sentiment may send their “Yes” price soaring. Buying now and selling at a price of 15¢ or higher will yield a decent return, or you could hold until the postseason for more substantial profits. Milwaukee currently has a 99.9% chance of reaching the playoffs.

Addressing Tampa’s Odds and Probability – Does the Franchise Offer Value?

“Tampa Bay Rays to win the World Series” | “Yes” at 8.4¢ | 8% Chance

On paper, the Tampa Bay Rays offer exceptional value at their current price of 8.4¢. They’re the MLB’s form team with a recent streak of 9-1, while a regular season record of 73-46 (.613) is second only to the Brewers. The franchise also boasts the best home record this season (41-18), while continuing to lead the American League and Eastern Division.

However, this is the MLB’s most competitive division, while the Rays only hold a 5.5-game lead over the Yankees. A poor run in September could see this advantage diminish quickly, especially if New York returns some of their injured stars and embarks on a winning streak of their own.

The Rays’ price may have already peaked, too, having increased markedly from 0.8¢ on April 9th. Buying “Yes” shares at 8.4¢ and attempting to sell above 10¢ could also expose you to low liquidity levels, so this trade only offers value if you’re picking the Bay Rays for a deep playoff run.

The Last Word: Trading MLB Outcomes With Polymarket

Trading the World Series winner offers the best overall value across all MLB markets, with a total volume of over $38 million hinting at high levels of liquidity for traders.

However, there’s also value to be found when picking National and American League winners, with underpriced options like the Brewers capable of delivering sizable short-term profits before the end of September.

The challenge here is that the MLB regular season is action-packed, with each franchise playing a total of 162 games. So, we’d recommend following the latest action, news, and results in real-time, using this information to both inform and track your trades.

This will also help you to identify new MLB trading opportunities on Polymarket, across all potential outcomes and divisions!
