Tang joins Midnite as the challenger brand’s Canada general manager after five years at FanDuel, where he played a central role in the operator’s Canadian business. He most recently served as senior director of Canada commercial, analytics, and retention for FanDuel. He’ll be based in Toronto.

In announcing the move on LinkedIn, Tang said the opportunity to build another Canadian operation persuaded him to leave FanDuel.

Five years ago, I had the chance to join FanDuel Canada in its earliest days. Along the way, I learned from exceptional leaders and incredible peers — and most importantly, had the chance to build an amazing team I got to work alongside every day.

Tang added that leaving FanDuel was “anything but easy.”

“But the chance to build something new in Canada doesn’t come around often — so I’m excited to share that I’ve joined Midnite to lead its launch into the Canadian market,” he said.

Before joining FanDuel, Tang spent more than three years at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. His positions there included director of strategy development.

Midnite Targets Canada, Starting With Ontario

Since it was founded in 2015, Midnite has grown rapidly in the UK, positioning itself as a challenger brand targeting a digitally savvy audience.

The Canadian move follows Midnite’s $35 million Series C funding round in January.

Raine Partners IV, the growth equity fund managed by The Raine Group, led the round. Existing investors Play Ventures, Discerning Capital, Makers Fund, and Big Bets also participated.

“This capital enables us to hit the gas and accelerate our growth strategy as we pursue tier-1 operator status, investing heavily in our product team to truly disrupt the industry with a challenger brand platform for a new generation of players,” said Midnite co-founder Nick Wright at the time.

The investment took Midnite’s total equity funding above $75 million. This follows a $10 million Series B round in 2025 and a $16 million Series A round in 2022. Last October, Midnite also secured a separate $100 million credit facility.

Midnite noted that the capital would be used to support its first international expansion.

A recent recruitment posting said the company plans a casino go-to-market strategy “across Canada, including Ontario and future regulated provinces.”

However, Midnite is not yet listed as a licensed operator in Ontario or Alberta by the respective provincial regulators.
