Capital One has opened a swanky new lounge at the Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas.

Capital One’s fifth and largest airport lounge so far allows up to 135 guests to wait for their flights in 8,200 square feet of luxury. That includes first-class food and drink, AC outlets built into every seat, two private workspaces, and a “relaxation room.”

What’s a Relaxation Room?

The “Relaxation Room” cannot be reserved in advance, only upon arrival. (Image: upgradedpoints.com)

Located off a hallway near the lounge’s six gender-neutral restrooms, it’s a dimly lit, soundproof room lit by ceiling lights that simulate constellations in the night sky. It includes a napping pod equipped with eye masks and blankets.

And, if you’re tired and lucky enough, it just might be available. (You can’t reserve it in advance, only at the check-in desk once you arrive.)

Did you know that Harry Reid Airport also has its own “sleep room?” Check it out, along with its other hidden surprises, in “Secrets of the Las Vegas Airport.”

First Class Food & Drink

The Capital One Lounge’s all-day buffet serves up deviled eggs topped with caviar, falafel hummus bowls, and farro bowls with lemon-herb chicken. For those in a rush, a grab-and-go section includes sandwiches, cauliflower wraps, white bean chickpea salads, fruit cups, Fruity Pebbles scones and stuffed doughnuts.

Three times a day, a trolley cart rolls through with “daily rituals” including an iced Italian Caffè Shakerato in the morning, a tea services with pastries and macaroons in the from Suzuya Patisserie in the afternoon, and sparkling wine every evening.

But what Capital One really specializes in, besides late fees, is classy cocktails. Its Green Goblin is a frozen absinthe-enhanced treat created by mixologists at Herbs & Rye. Its Bloody Mary is mixed with Scotch bonnet and dried chili infused vodka. And its “Cop in a Raincoat” (Hunter S. Thompson’s name for a corrupt authority figure in “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”) is a pear and pomegranate-infused margarita.

They Card You to Enter

Not just any Capital One credit cardholder can lounge courtesy of Capital One. You’ll need to hold either the company’s Venture X or Venture X Business cards. Both come with an annual fee of $395, though both also issue $300 annual travel credits and 10,000 bonus miles (valued at $100) on every account anniversary.

Every Venture X cardholder is allowed two guests for free, with additional guests costing $45 each (half price). Plain old Venture and Spark Miles cardholders ($95 annual fee each) can also get in for half price, while the unwashed masses must pay $90, which they can pay with any credit card they like.

All lounge users must have a boarding pass for a departing or connecting same-day flight within three hours of their departure time. The lounge is open daily from 5am to 11pm.
