A woman who said she was seriously hurt by a security gate at Henderson, Nevada’s Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa & Casino parking garage recently filed a lawsuit against the property.

Elizabeth Browner of Clark County claims the gaming facility was negligent by not providing a safe walkway for her while she was near the automated gate in the VIP Parking Area on Jan. 12, 2023.
Browner suffered injuries to her head and face when the gate struck her, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Eye Injuries, Knocked Down
The gate moved unexpectedly, hitting her left eye and knocking her to the pavement, according to the Nevada Globe.
Browner suffered a cut on her nose, a corneal abrasion, a head injury, as well as blurry vision, the Globe reported. The injuries led to her staying at home for two weeks, according to the court action. The pain and suffering also interrupted her sleep patterns, the lawsuit added.
Beyond the two weeks, the injuries meant Browner had to “undergo follow-up medical care, pain management (and) physical therapy,” according to the lawsuit.
History of Malfunction
The suit said the gate “created a dangerous condition,” and had malfunctioned “before and after the … incident.”
Browner’s attorneys are seeking compensation for her injuries, pain, and suffering. The exact amount of damages Browner is seeking wasn’t immediately available.
The case is pending in the Eighth Judicial District Circuit Court of Nevada. The civil court case could proceed to trial if the two sides can’t reach a settlement. It’s likely the casino may offer a pretrial settlement to Browner.
Green Valley Ranch is operated by Station Casinos, a subsidiary of Red Rock Resorts.
When asked for a comment, a Red Rock Resorts spokesperson told the Review-Journal the company doesn’t comment on pending litigation.
The safety of our team members and guests at Green Valley Ranch is the highest priority. Green Valley Ranch takes great pride in its safety record,” the company was quoted by the Globe.
Green Valley Ranch’s casino has a 143,891-square-foot gaming floor that includes 55 gaming tables and more than 2,500 slot machines and video poker machines. The hotel also has 495 rooms and suites.
