Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo (R) announced on Wednesday that Sendall will start this week on the powerful board.

Sendall has worked for the city attorney’s office in Reno since 2015 where she specializes in civil cases. Earlier, she worked as an intern for Caesars Entertainment and clerked for Nevada Supreme Court Justice James W. Hardesty. Before law school, she was an internal auditor for Caesars Entertainment.

Sendall graduated from UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law, where she was selected as editor in chief of the UNLV Gaming Law Journal.

Lombardo praised Sendall’s background.

With her unique background in law and compliance, Chandeni will bring fresh insight and critical perspective to the board,” Lombardo said in the statement. “I look forward to her leadership and contributions to gaming oversight in our state.”

“I’m grateful to Governor Lombardo for this opportunity to serve the State of Nevada,” Sendall said in a recent statement. “Along with my legal background, I look forward to applying my educational background in economics and my work experience in the gaming industry as I begin this new role at the Nevada Gaming Control Board.”

Watkins, Hendrick Leave NGCB

Sendall replaces Brittnie Watkins who declined to be reappointed to the NGCB. Watkins was appointed in 2021. Wakins previously worked as an attorney focused on commercial litigation. She was interim chairwoman of the NGCB in 2022, when former chairman, Brin Gibson, resigned.

Sendall’s appointment comes days after NGCB Chairman Kirk Hendrick said he will soon leave his post. Hendrick will depart sometime after the conclusion of this year’s Nevada legislative session.

Hendrick was named NGCB chairman in 2023. Before that, he was chief operating officer of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). He also was senior deputy attorney general for the gaming division’s Las Vegas office and chief deputy for the statewide gaming division.

NGCB Duties

The full-time, three-member NGCB is responsible for regulating gambling in Nevada. It investigates complaints and enforces relevant regulations, as well as oversees licensing for gaming venues.

Each of the three commissioners is appointed by the Nevada governor for four years. In recent history, many commissioners chose to step down before their terms end, and take other jobs.
