Choctaw Launches Fun Money Sportsbook as Sports Betting Remains Banned in Oklahoma

Choctaw Casinos & Resorts has launched a new free-to-play sports betting app in hopes of one day securing legal privileges to operate an online sportsbook.

Choctaw Casinos & Resorts, owned and operated by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, says Choctaw Sports lets users predict the outcomes of sporting events without risking real money. Users are afforded credits to “bet” on 12 sports, including football, baseball, basketball, golf, cricket, hockey, tennis, table tennis, soccer, Formula 1, UFC/MMA, and volleyball.

Choctaw Sports users receive fun money for signing in daily to make their sports predictions. Unlike many other supposedly free online sports prediction apps and websites, Choctaw Sports does not offer in-app purchases for additional gameplay or wagering credits.

“Love the thrill of sports but want to enjoy all the fun for free? Choctaw Sports free-to-play lets you make picks on your favorite games, all without spending a dime,” the Choctaw Sports app description in the App Store reads.

Choctaw Sports is reserved for those aged 21+. The app is available for download nationwide.

Tribes Lobby for Sportsbooks

Oklahoma is in the minority across the United States in maintaining a ban on legal sports betting.

The stalemate is largely due to Gov. Kevin Stitt (R), who remains at odds with the tribes. Despite being a member of the Cherokee Nation, Stitt believes it’s in the state’s best interest to welcome in commercial sportsbook operators, should Oklahoma expand gambling to include online sports betting.

The Oklahoma Legislature has adjourned for 2026, and no citizen-led referendum campaign will make the November ballot to ask voters to amend the Oklahoma Constitution to allow for some form of sports betting. The Choctaw Nation is seemingly hoping 2027 will be different.

Choctaw Sports allows users to become familiar with how sports betting works. The app could also help Choctaw Casinos & Resorts build up a potential customer base should real betting become legal.

“Choctaw Casinos & Resorts has a lot to offer guests, and Choctaw Sports is a digital product that allows people to have fun and learn about the ins and outs of sports betting without any risk,” said Tom McDonald, senior director of digital gaming for Choctaw Casinos & Resorts.

Choctaw Sports is powered by Malta-based Kambi’s turnkey sportsbook platform.

In addition to its free-to-play sports predictions app, Choctaw Casinos & Resorts has operated a fun money social slots app, Choctaw Slots, since 2022.

Choctaw says it will also soon launch Bet Choctaw, a real money online gaming app that will be functional for users who are physically located on a Choctaw casino property.
