Virgin Las Vegas Tabs William Hill to Run Sportsbook

  • William Hill to takeover sportsbook operations at off-Strip casino hotel later this year
  • Virgin’s sportsbook was previously run by Betfred, which left Nevada in January
  • Move could be advantageous for Virgin

Just days before the start of the 2025 NFL season, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas announced today that William Hill will soon run the sportsbook at the off-Strip casino resort.

The partnership could be a boon for Virgin because William Hill is the largest mobile sportsbook operator in Nevada and the brand is familiar to scores of sports bettors in the state. Financial terms of the relationship weren’t disclosed, but it will result in a significant revamping of Virgin’s sportsbook.

As part of this strategic partnership, William Hill will introduce a vastly expanded sports wagering menu and significantly increase the footprint of betting kiosks available for wagering 24/7,” according to a statement issued by the integrated resort. “This collaboration represents the latest strategic advancement in the property’s commitment to delivering an elevated and unforgettable experience for its guests and customers.”

Through a US subsidiary, UK-based Betfred was the original sportsbook operator at Virgin when the venue opened five years ago, but Betfred wound down its US operations earlier this year, prompting the Virgin’s search for a new sports betting partner.

William Could Lift Virgin Sportsbook

The agreement with William Hill could be just the jolt the Virgin sportsbook needs to appeal to locals and traveling sports bettors alike.

Not only does it bring stability to the Virgin sportsbook, the retail location will serve as a venue where Nevada bettors can register and fund their William Hill mobile betting accounts. In-person registration for those accounts is required by state law. That could result in extra foot traffic for the Virgin casino.

The deal could also amount to some good timing because William Hill is one of the big names on the football contest circuit.

“This football season, William Hill has introduced its most extensive wagering menus to date, offering two to three times more market options than previous seasons, the weekly Pro Pick’em Football Contest, and parlay cards, including the weekly $50,000 NFL Progressive Parlay Card and more,” according to Virgin’s press release.

William Hill Recent History

In 2021, Caesars Entertainment paid roughly $4 billion for William Hill, though the buyer folded the target into its Caesars Sportsbook brand, essentially eliminating the brand across the US except for in Nevada. In that state, Caesars offers mobile sports wagering under its own brand as well as William Hill and there are several William brick-and-mortar locations at Las Vegas casinos that are not operated by Caesars.

In 2022, Caesars sold the international operations of William Hill to 888 Holdings in a transaction that enabled the seller to reduce debt following the 2020 merger with Eldorado Resorts.
