VEGAS MUSIC ROUNDUP: Janet Jackson Confirms Resorts World Residency, Rod Returns

Janet Jackson will begin a Resorts World residency close to Christmas. The commitment will include a New Year’s Eve performance.

“We are thrilled to announce Janet’s upcoming residency at Resorts World Las Vegas,” said her manager, Mo Elmasri, in a statement. “This partnership offers a unique opportunity to celebrate her legacy and deliver unforgettable performances.”

This will be only the 58-year-old singer’s second Vegas residency, following “Metamorphosis,” which played the Park MGM from May to August of 2019. That 18-date deal grossed around $13 million.

The Resorts World Theatre gig is expected to include a duet between the singer and her late brother, Michael Jackson, on their 1995 single, “Scream.” The duet already features on Jackson’s current “Together Again” tour, which wraps in October in Europe.

“The energy and excitement of Las Vegas, especially around the holiday season, make it the perfect setting for this new chapter,” Elmasri’s statement continued. “Janet is excited to connect with her fans and bring her iconic music to life in a fresh and dynamic way.”

The “Nasty” singer was offered a residency in London, according to TMZ, but chose Vegas because it was more lucrative.

Jackson’s residency could push back Celine Dion’s comeback, which has been rumored to start at Resorts World late this year, to early 2025. Or the two residencies could run concurrently, as Resorts World has done in the past.

We’ll be sure to pass on ticket info the second it becomes available!
