Showgirl Impersonators, Tourists Clash on Las Vegas Strip in Viral Video

Two showgirl impersonators were arrested and charged with battery following an altercation with a man and woman on the Las Vegas Strip. Video of the incident was obtained and published by TMZ on Friday, Oct. 2.

The video opens mid-brawl as two costumed performers attack a woman dressed in white pants, knocking her to the pavement near a pedestrian walkway on Las Vegas Boulevard near Flamingo Road.

A young child can be seen watching the fight unfold from behind a nearby handrail as a crowd gathers around the scene.

Feathers Fly

During the altercation—which occurred around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30—one of the performers repeatedly struck a woman on the ground before a shirtless, bloodied man intervened to pull the attacker away.

At that point, three costumed impersonators turned on the man. One removed a white high-heeled shoe and attempted to strike him before using the footwear to hit the woman who remained on the pavement.

Bystanders can be heard on video shouting for security as pedestrians gathered near the scene. The recording concludes showing two suspects in handcuffs beside a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department patrol vehicle.

Street Performer Context

While initial media reports referred to the women as “showgirls,” formal showgirl productions in Las Vegas ceased in February 2016 following the closure of Jubilee! at Bally’s.

The women involved are independent costumed street performers who solicit tips from tourists in exchange for photographs on public sidewalks.

Law enforcement officials have not released details regarding what triggered the fight. However, disputes between Las Vegas Boulevard street performers and visitors frequently stem from tip negotiations following photo opportunities.

Police confirmed the two suspects were booked on charges of battery and obtaining money under false pretenses.

Both defendants are scheduled to appear in court Dec. 3.
